Page 96 of Shattering Nash

Charley flattened her lips, unsure what to make of the comment.

“Give me your phone.” Ace held out his hand, and she pulled it from her back pocket, handing it to him. He turned, giving it to the man with the mohawk. Ace’s voice was low, but she made out his words. “See if you can track it to a location.”

Charley straightened in her chair, pointing to the phone. “It came from an unknown number. I don’t think you can track it.”

The room sounded with muffled laughs. Gent being the loudest of the bunch. He pushed off the wall, walking to the man with the mohawk.

“I think she’s challenging you, Cypher.”

She looked up at the man and shrunk under his glare. She was in no way challenging anyone especially this man. He couldprobably snap her in half in ten seconds flat. She quickly shook her head.

“No, I’m just trying to help.”

Cypher arched his brow. “I suggest you stop trying.”

“I will. Right now.” She gulped.

“Best not to get that one riled up,” Inez said, gaining her attention. “After my boys showed up, was it you or Penny who called Nash.”

She pressed her hand on her chest. “It was me.”

Inez smirked. “Wanted him to come save you?”

“Yes,” she muttered.

“Then why’d you run?”

Charley refused to share any information Penny had given her. But she could be honest without giving away too much.

“I got scared. Zeke is lying and telling everyone that I stole his drugs, and that I knew about my brother working with the police.”

“Didn’t trust Nash enough to save you?” Inez’s tone was taunting.

She did, initially. But Charley was learning quickly that she was deep in a world she knew nothing about.

“I don’t know who to trust,” she whispered.

It was the biggest truth she told in quite some time.

Inez took a slow drag and slowly blew out the smoke, looking over at Ace.

“Hide her.”

Hide me?

Where the fuck is she?

Nash had spent the last hour exhausting all his connections to find Charley and came up short every time. The most alarming concern was his inability to get in touch with Ace or Inez. Even Oz had tried reaching out directly and gotno response. Everything was pointing to them knowing her whereabouts.

Trey tapped the screen of his phone and turned. “I had Jared check with Keely. She hasn’t seen or heard from Charley.”

Rogue scoffed. “That girl lies like it’s her fucking job.”

Trey shook his head. “I had Jay go to her apartment to confirm Charley isn’t there.”

“Where the hell did she go?” Nash snapped.
