Typical Chase.
“Just keeping a promise to my Beta to take him out for a ride.” Chase winks. “And to let him rideme, while we did it.”
Piper scrunches up his nose. “TMI, Wolf.”
“TMI?” Chase replies, attempting to sound innocent and failing. “But I haven’t even told you yet what impact the vibrations had and how—”
Piper growls at his much larger Alpha brother, causing Chase’s mouth to snap shut.
Only in our family could an Omega Reject do that.
Only in our family does Chase laugh and casually lean against the wall, rather than drag Piper to the floor and beat him for his insolence.
I worry that Piper will never find a pack of his own.
Chase has raised us like equals.
How will Piper find a pack where he will be safe? Where he knows…absolutely knows…that when he throws himself into an Alpha’s arms, he will be caught? That they will only ever pretend to drop him? That scares are to thrill you and not terrorize?
That an Omega can growl at an Alpha?
For a moment, Chase catches my eye. He’s clearly feeling the same fears.
Then his expression clears. “So, this reckless, impulsive mission of yours. I’m all in. Also, I heard that it was someone’s birthday but I may be wrong, in which case you won’t want my gift…”
I flick him on his nose.
And in what other pack can an Omega flick their Alpha on the nose?
Chase looks regretful. “Seems you don’t want your gift. And it would have been the first step on your mission as well. You know that my scent match is a male Omega, Rook, who is a Grandmaster in chess. He’s at least five steps ahead of everyone. It’s sexy to be outsmarted even in bed. Anyway, my Rook knows that you’re obsessed with Jin.”
“Called it,” Piper says, smugly.
“Brothers.” I cross my arms. “I’m always outnumbered.”
“Rook chose your birthday gift. It’s from all my pack.” Chase slips his hand into his pocket. “But you don’t want it, huh? Strange, I thought that all Omegas wanted gifts.”
I make the grabby hand gesture.
Chase slides out two metallic blue concert tickets and passes them to me. “Happy birthday, sis.”
I stare at the tickets in shock.
In the corner is the same dragon band logo as is looped into a musical note on my t-shirt.
On the top is Jin’s performance name in mythical text:
JIN AND IMMORTAL FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY IN THE BETAS OF ROCK CONCERT
I light up with excitement.
V.I.P Journalist Passis marked in big letters at the bottom of each of them.
My eyes widen. I itch to grab the tickets.
I hold myself back because I can’t believe that I am truly going to be able to attend the concert of the century.
Piper gasps, diving off the counter.
