ThenEmilia rolled her over, those same eyes sated, and those full lips curved in awicked smile.

“Youdidn’t think we were done, did you, Morgan Donovan?”

Emilia wokein the darkness hours later as the unfamiliar sounds of the house broke intoher dreams. Had a dog barked? She stirred, tangled in the sheets, and felt thewarmth of Morgan’s body beside her. The pattering of kitty paws in the hallwaycaught her ears—James, hunting some small rodent or engaged in the kind ofmidnight romp that made sense only to cats.

She’dended up on the side of the bed against the wall. Morgan’s sleeping outline wasframed by the faint light from the window, and starlight painted her cheek. Thesheet had slipped down over her shoulder. Emilia drank in the strength of her,the solidity, the grace of her body and the soft, feminine curl of her lashes.

Inthe darkness, with the heavy breathing of sleeping dogs rising from the floorand the pale whisper of light from the window, Emilia curled her body around Morgan’sand wrapped her arm around her waist. Morgan moved in her sleep to presscloser, and her hand found Emilia’s and tucked it underneath her chin. Theyexhaled together. She could feel the steady beating of Morgan’s heart throughthe meeting of their ribs, and she rested her forehead against the smooth bladeof her shoulder.

Somethingin Emilia’s chest split open. It hurt. For a moment she couldn’t breathe.Morgan’s breath brushed her fingers, warm, trusting, completely vulnerable insleep. The ache in her chest spread through her body. Pain, mixed with alonging so intense she had to bite her lip to keep from gasping. It would haveterrified her in the daylight. Here, though, with the stars as witness, she letherself feel, and she told herself she did not think about the names for theseemotions as the steady beat of Morgan’s heart lulled her back to sleep.

Morganwoke to the sound of two dogs whining. Kraken shoved his nose under her headand snuffled in her ear, and another dog lay on the bed beside her, beating herwith its tail. It took her a moment to work out the details, and then sheturned to find Emilia watching her.

“Goodmorning,” Emilia said, her words shy.

Morgantwisted a strand of Emilia’s hair in her fingers and ignored the dogs. Her bodyfelt drugged, sluggish, and heavy with satiety, and she remembered Emiliapushing her up against the headboard the third—or was it the fourth?—time, riding her hard, and then finally, after copious pleading on Morgan’s part, letting her take Emilia in her mouth. She’d tasted sweet and heady, and, remembering,Morgan elbowed Nell out of the way and rolled on top of Emilia.

“Goodmorning,” she replied as she looked down at the woman pinned between her arms.Emilia writhed a little beneath her as the shyness in her eyes gave way tosomething more familiar. Morgan moved her hips and Emilia’s legs parted, andthey were both wet where they met.

“Ishould offer you breakfast,” Morgan said as she kissed Emilia’s neck.

“Oddly,I’m suddenly not hungry,” said Emilia as her body arched.

“Cupof coffee?” She worked her way up to Emilia’s ear and whispered the words.

“Morgan—”

“Weget really good coffee from Stormy.” She drove her hips slowly into Emilia witha steady purpose that had them both breathing hard. Teasing Emilia was new. Sheliked it, she decided, finding the spot on Emilia’s neck that made her gasp. Then Emilia raised her leg, hooking it over Morgan’s shoulder, and the feel ofher clit against Emilia’s severed her ability to think.

Stevie’sknock broke them apart some time later.

“Riseand shine,” she said through the door. “We’ve got an eight o’clock.”

“Shit,”said Morgan, who was wrapped between Emilia’s thighs.

“Coming,”she said louder, ignoring Stevie’s “I bet you are.”

Shepushed hard into Emilia, who pressed a pillow over her face to muffle her screamas Morgan took her in her mouth and sucked, hard.

Twovery disgruntled dogs awaited them. Kraken was used to being the center of herattention in the morning, and his face said both his bladder and his stomachwere considering mutiny. Nell had scrunched herself onto the window seat in atight ball that radiated betrayal.

“Ineed to take a quick shower.” Morgan stood reluctantly. “Care to join me?”

“Areyou sure that’s a good idea?” Emilia lay prostrate on the bed, her body stillflushed, and her half-lidded eyes ran up and down Morgan’s body.

“Notat all.” She grinned as an aftershock visibly shook Emilia and offered her ahand. “But I don’t want to make our dogs wait much longer.”

Keepingher hands to herself in the shower was impossible, but she managed to get themout in under ten minutes, aided by the brutally abrupt end of the hot watersupply.

Theother residents of 16 Bay Road were congregated in the kitchen with an air offorced innocence that didn’t fool Morgan for a second. The chorus of “goodmornings” that greeted them reeked of suppressed amusement, and Emilia’s cheeksglowed pink with embarrassment. Morgan poured her a cup of coffee. Her own facefelt hot, but she didn’t care. Let her friends smirk with satisfaction at theircorrect predictions. Emilia was all that mattered.

Theypounced on her the moment Emilia’s car pulled out of the driveway.

“You’resuch a good friend.” Stevie batted her eyelashes and sashayed toward Morgan.“Thanks for being there for me, Morgan. I just love our platonic fuck fests.”
