Page 24 of Cruel Revenge

I chuckle and nod to the garbage can. “You should see all the pictures of her I just burned. Seems like your husband has been spending his free time stalking another woman. Hell, one of those pictures looked like he tracked her down all the way to her house in Vermont.”

If looks could kill, Logan would be six feet under by now.

Bella’s eyes are glassy, but her face is bright red. “That’s where you went on that business trip before Christmas?”

Logan shrugs, snatching the pictures from the floor like an idiot and putting them back on top of the box. “I told you that I’m trying to get her family locked away for good. Part of that means that I have to follow them.”

She storms over to the box and snatches the pictures before he can hide them. “This doesn’t look like trying to get her family put away. This looks like someone who is still in love with his ex.”

I grin and lean back. “I told him to drop the case against the Lyndes. I don’t appreciate him following my wife around like this, and I certainly don’t like the thought of her spending time in jail because he seems to have this sick obsession with her. It would be better for everyone involved if he just let go of it and moved on with his life.”

Bella hands the pictures to me. “Burn these with the others please.”

Laughing, I grab the garbage can and toss them back into the flames.

The edges curl before turning to ash.

“I knew you were the kind of woman to see sense.”

Logan glowers at me before turning his attention back to his wife. “I promise those pictures were just for a case. That’s it.”

Bella snorts and kicks the bin with her toe. “Sure, tell that to all of these.”

“She’s nothing but a fucking bitch. She spread her legs for anyone who was around, and I fell for it, but you have to believe me, Bels. She means nothing to me.”

I slide down from the desk, squaring my hips before punching my brother in the face.

His nose makes a sickening crunch beneath my fist and blood rolls down his face as he lets out a shout.

He staggers, clutching a hand over his nose.

“I told you to stop talking about my wife like that.” I crack my knuckles, glaring at him as he sits down. “If I have to keep punching you in the face to remind you of that, I’m just going to kill you instead.”

Logan wipes the blood away with the neckline of his shirt as Bella leaves the room, slamming the door shut behind her. He scowls and sits down behind his desk, reaching into the drawer and pulling out a wad of tissues.

“I can’t believe you did that.” Logan shakes his head, his voice muffled from the tissues in front of it.

“Like I said, I told you to stop talking about my wife like that.” I lean against the wall, looking down at the blood dripping onto the white carpet. “That’s going to be a bitch to get out. Sure is a shame, isn’t it?”

“You should be taking my side in this. You know that she made a fool out of me, and you know that she’s only using you to get to me. She’s vindictive, and she uses people to get what she wants.”

“Then she’s just like every other person.”

“I could make this worse for you.” Logan eyes me like he’s not quite sure of what he’s saying, but he’s gaining confidence as he goes. “I spend a lot of time covering for you and making sure that nobody finds out what you’re doing.”

I push off the wall and step closer to him. “Are you sure you want to be threatening me right now?”

“Not a threat, Joshua. Just a reminder that we’re in this together, and if you’re choosing to turn against me, then maybe I should think about turning against you. After all, family clearly doesn’t mean that much to you.”

“Don’t think I won’t kill you. You may be my brother, but that means nothing to me.” And whether he knows it or not, I mean every single word.

The room grows frigid as he looks at me like he’s seeing me for the first time.

“You would kill me after everything we’ve been through together?”

I step closer to him, looming over him as he leans back in the chair. “You’re not giving me much of a reason to keep you alive if you’re thinking of turning against me, now are you?”

Logan swallows hard. “I wouldn’t turn against you.”
