“I guess we will.”

He took her hand and they walked back to the car after Jack settled the bill.

The drive home was filled with talking about the movie, but Lucy felt she knew Jack a little better. When he walked her to the door and kissed her, his kiss felt different. It felt more intimate, as if they had moved from strangers then to friends and now something closer.

“Lucy, I know tonight upset you talking about your daughter, and more importantly, your mother.I get the feeling you’ve held back your unhappiness.I’m here, Seb’s here, if you ever want to let it go.”

Lucy wasn’t surprised he had seen her sadness, but she was taken-aback at his empathy.Maybe one day.

He kissed her gently then wished her goodnight and arranged that they’d both meet her the next day.

Lucy went to bed thinking that, at least with Jack, the relationship had crossed over to another special level. She just hoped she would make the same crossing with Sebastian. She understood it was either both or neither.

ChapterTwenty-Six

One Saturday morning, Lucy woke late, at ten.Jack had said they would be over around twelve.Hovering continually in her thoughts, and her dreams, was making love to them both. She’d known them for five weeks, and they’d been out about eleven times. She and Jack had also been to the movies again.

She remembered to give the chickens fresh water, tossing in a couple of cauliflower leaves that she tore off one of the plants in the garden as she passed. When she walked back inside, she was glad she’d slept in—less time to think.

Not once since that first weekend had either of the men brought up the topic of sex.Yes, they’d both kissed her—a lot.But they were allowing Lucy to get to know them, to dictate the speed of the developing relationship, as Sebastian had said.

But Lucy stressed. No, that’s wrong.I’m growing more frustrated each time I’m with them.It had reached the point where she wanted them to seduce her, although she knew neither would.Lucy knew perfectly well they were leaving any moves to her.It would be up to her to take things to the next level.

As she dressed, she decided this was it.Somehow or other, she was going to make it known that she wanted more.Somehow, she had to show them she wanted the relationship to move forward.

By the time the clock ticked over the hour, she was so alert, so keyed up and excited, she was frightened she’d grab the two men when they came inside and demand sex. That set her giggling.Although perhaps it would be a good idea.It would certainly get her frustration for the sex thing out of the way.Maybe then she could relax with them both. But Lucy knew she hadn’t reached the point yet where she could be so forward about sex.

Hearing a car door slam, her stomach came up to her mouth.Holding her hands out in front of her, Lucy wasn’t at all surprised to see them shaking. It was weird because she’d gotten so relaxed around them, yet now it felt like she was meeting them for the first time.Walking through the house, she heard the door-knocker bang as she entered the hall. Before opening the door, she took a deep breath and blew it out harshly through her mouth.

“Hi, beautiful!”Sebastian kissed her cheek, tilted his head, and peered down at her.“You look like a rabbit in headlights.”

“Hi.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing at all.I’m sorry, just a bit tense for some reason.”Lucy hoped they couldn’t hear the lie in her voice.
