Lucy watched them turn away and she shut the door, leaning against it.She gave a very self-satisfied grin and pushed off the door.Climbing upstairs, the smile never left her face.

Chapter Twenty-Four

For Lucy and the men, the picnic turned into great fun. They only went down to Leura, but nonetheless it was enjoyable for them all.Lucy and Jack had taken to teasing each other. She felt like a teenager again, doing silly things. At one point, she put a bug on his shoulder and he chased her around trying to put an ice-cube down her back.

Sebastian lay back on the rug, laughing at their antics and taking photos. The three spent a lot of time talking about things they enjoyed and those they didn’t.

It was different from their previous dates.Lucy guessed it was because she was starting to get to know the two of them, know their reactions to things. It was only when a heavy thunderstorm rolled across the mountains that their picnic ended.

On the way back to Lucy’s, they picked up some Thai take-away.Sitting around the kitchen table, the laughter continued.Jack was still making her laugh. He told her about his first efforts skiing complete with actions.Even Sebastian joined in, telling Lucy that apparently Jack had somehow managed to not only fall over, but in the process, he’d also lost one ski.

Jack stood on a chair trying to demonstrate how he’d gotten to his feet.Somehow, he’d been able to stay upright while heading down the mountain out of control following his recalcitrant ski.

Lucy’s sides were aching from laughing so much at his antics swaying on top of the chair.

When the two men left around ten, Lucy was still giggling after agreeing to dinner again on Wednesday night. She reminded them that she would be working, and so they arranged to collect her around six.

When they turned upon Wednesday it was decided they would eat at Mount Victoria.Sebastian had heard about a new place that had opened recently.Unfortunately, for the three of them, the food was rather bland and there wasn’t a great variety.Still, it was an enjoyable night and Lucy had fun. Each time she was with the two men, she learned more about them and began to understand their personalities.

She was convinced Jack never stopped laughing while Sebastian was usually serious.Although, Jack always managed to make him laugh at some point. At times she thought she and Jack were the teenagers and Sebastian the sensible adult in charge. But then Sebastian would do or say something so silly that had her in fits. She suddenly comprehended he was just as funny but his need to be in control all the time spread over into his actions.

They’d finished the night with coffee at her house.Mindful of the fact that she was working, Sebastian made sure they left at nine-thirty so she could get a good night’s rest.

“Would you be interested doing something on Friday night?”Sebastian had his arms around her waist as they stood at the front door.

“I would.”

Sebastian grinned down at her before lowering his head and kissing her.His sweet kiss lingered on her lips until Jack edged him aside and demanded his kiss.

Lucy could have stood there all night kissing them, but Sebastian kissed his fingers and placed them across her mouth.

“Hang on, Seb.Haven’t you got that special Outreach meeting thing on Friday?”

“Damn!Yeah, I forgot.Doesn’t matter, why don’t you and Lucy still go do something.Maybe go to the movies?Give you a chance to talk without me listening.”
