Jack asked Sebastian for dessert so he ordered dark chocolate délice with salted macadamia and toffee for Jack and Lucy, and a cheese board with fig jam and fresh fruit for himself as well as coffees all around.Lucy smiled to herself when she noticed he dipped into Jack’s dessert a few times while Jack helped himself to some cheese when he finished his délice.

Sebastian gestured to the cheese plate when Lucy finished her dessert.“Help yourself, Lucy.There’s plenty here.If you like Brie, this one is really lovely.”He held out a piece of Brie on a cracker for her.

She leaned forward to take it, but he pushed her hand away and held it to her mouth instead, his gaze on hers.The cheese slipped into her mouth, dripping a little so she ran her tongue around her bottom lip.

Sebastian’s eyes seemed to sparkle with delight as he watched.

The three of them relaxed with their coffee.Lucy settled into a more normal habit after their long, slow meal.Both men showered her with little attentions—Jack had given her a serviette then made sure she liked the food.Sebastian would touch her hand at times and ask if she felt okay.There was no doubt in her mind that Lucy would very quickly become used to being treated so special.

It was closer to eleven when the men dropped her back home.They walked her to the front door with Sebastian doing his usual door opening trick.

“We won’t come in, it’s late.Anyway, it would be too hard to leave you, but know how much we’ve really enjoyed today.Tomorrow is kind of crazy, have a few things that have to be done.We’ve been trialing some new staff.”He looked at Jack, who nodded.“Can we take you to dinner on Wednesday evening?”

“I’d like that.”

“Perfect.We’ll pick you up around six if that’s okay.”

Lucy nodded.

Sebastian reached out with one hand and ran his fingers gently down her cheek.Lucy found herself leaning into it with her eyes closed.He cupped his hand against her face then kissed her.He broke off the kiss, and when she opened her eyes, his dark ones smiled tenderly down at her.

He stepped aside and Jack took his place close to her.He ran a hand across her shoulder and down her arm as he pulled her closer.Once more, lips pressed against hers.Again, she felt it from her toes to her head.Jack’s lips on hers let her sink into the wonderful feeling of being kissed by someone she really cared about.It gave her a start.How can I be so quickly developing deep feelings for him?She was a little saddened when they broke apart.

“Sweet dreams, beautiful,” Jack whispered.

“Take care and try to think about us occasionally.”The smile Sebastian gave her made her weak at the knees.“See you Wednesday.Inside now.”

Lucy reluctantly entered the house, and Sebastian pulled the door closed.She stood listening to their footfalls as they walked back to the car, heard the engine start, then bumped back down the drive.Lucy wasn’t sure how long she stood there at the door.Maybe it was only a minute or maybe it was ten.Finally, she gave a huge sigh and walked up the stairs to her bedroom.

She showered and slipped on her nightie, then climbed into her mussed-up bed.Laying on her side gazing through the window, try as she might, she couldn’t find the right words in her mind to express how she felt.All Lucy knew was she’d never in her entire life felt the way she did at the moment.

It was as if she had just wakened from a very long, long sleep and found the world to be amazing and wonderful.With a smile on her face, she sank into sleep.

Chapter Thirty-Two

Sebastian drove backto the apartment in almost total silence, both men absorbed in their own thoughts with what the day had wrought.When they arrived home, it was twenty past one.
