Jane rose to her knees and put her hands on the armrest of his chair to lean close as she whispered, “You met someone.”
He froze, unsure what to tell her if anything. It wasn’t anyone’s business but his and Miles’s. He wanted to keep the man to himself. It had only been a few weeks, and he was going out of his damned mind. Going from spending a whole week with Miles to only talking over the phone was fucking awful.
He rarely got to a point where he missed someone, but he missed Miles. Not just the sex?though, definitely the sex because it had just been him, his hand, and thoughts of Miles since he went back to college?but alsojustMiles. The sound of his voice. The smell of him on his clothes and on his sheets. Seeing him wearing his old jacket.
Jane smiled at him, making him frown back at her.
“You’re grumpy ‘cause you miss him,” she said, still keeping her voice low.
He knew from the soft look in her eyes and that genuine smile that she wouldn’t tell anyone. She was just happy forhim.
He didn’t know what the hell to do with that. Fortunately, she just laughed and walked off to mess with Wilder and Solo some more. She wrapped her arms around the back of Solo’s neck, and he knew she was batting those lashes again, saying sweet nothings to the poor guy who hadn’t realized he was about to lose the beer in his hand. She was going to be an absolute cock block for those two. Maybe that was why Solo didn’t want her to move in? Then again, Solo wasn’t one to put too much stock in sex compared to friendships, and Wilder would have no qualms fucking someone in front of Jane just to get a point across.
His phone beeped, and his heart started to race. He reached for his phone, and a smile spread on his face when he saw a text from Miles.
Miles would be home for the weekend in two weeks. They’d only have a few hours, maybe a night together, and by then it would’ve been over five weeks since they’d last seen each other. If it was only his dick complaining, he would’ve been fine, but it wasn’t. The sexting and phone sex were great, but he missed Miles. So fucking much.
His college was in Virginia, a good five hours away, but it was Friday, and it wasn’t like he was needed at the club. He wasn’t invited on the runs anyway, and he needed to see Miles. He’d find a reason. An excuse. It didn’t matter. He needed to see those amber eyes and the smile that always took his breath away. Fuck waiting.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Miles
HE WAS walking toward his dorm with Ezra and their friend Hailey. He was lost in his thoughts while the two of them were discussing their weekend plans. His phone beeping had a smile spreading on his lips. He’d put a special sound on Kaz’s messages. He’d pretty much Pavloved himself into that excited response. He was an idiot. An idiot who was very much into Kaz Tailler.
Who would’ve thought?Him. IntoKaz. In a sorta-relationship with Kaz.
Hell must have frozen over.
He pulled out his phone and only smiled wider when he read Kaz’s message.
I may have done something crazy. I think you’ll like it, though.
If it was anything like his last crazy idea, which had been sending him a picture of his very hard cock in the middle of class, then he was pretty sure he’d like this idea, too. Especially if it ended in phone sex like the picture had.
He glanced up to make sure he wasn’t about to walk into a streetlight because he’d maybe done that before when he’d been staring down at his phone in the middle of aconversation with Kaz.
His breath caught in his throat when he saw the man leaning back against his motorcycle in the parking lot, and he stumbled over his own feet. He managed to not fall on his face, and though his heart started pounding frantically, he somehow kept walking.
“Uh. Guys? I’ll catch up with you later.”
Ezra’s gaze shot toward Kaz, then back at Miles, before he gave him a look he didn’t care to decipher.
“Sure. See you,” Hailey said with a wave.
He was too stunned to wave back as Ezra and Hailey headed into the dormitory.
His feet took him toward Kaz who looked sexy as hell in his leather cut, white T-shirt, and dark blue faded jeans. His black hair looked windswept but the helmet resting on the seat told him it was because Kaz had run his fingers through it. He looked amazing.
“Kaz,” he said breathlessly as he stopped a few feet from him.
Kaz grinned at him with that naughty and flirtatious smile he had once hated and now would do almost anything to see.
“Told you I had a crazy idea,” Kaz said, and the sound of his husky voice did things to Miles’s body that he’d probably never admit to.
Kaz pushed away from the bike, and Miles was wrapping his arms around him the next second, their mouths crashing together in a hungry kiss. He felt fingers slide into his hair, grabbing hold to tilt his head, and then Kaz’s tongue slippedinto his mouth. Heat surged through him like a live wire, lighting up his whole body.
He pulled back, gasping for breath as he stared at Kaz.
