I’m almost grounded for punching Hailie.I text Langdon.

That was a while ago.He responds.

Gramps, Mom and I bounce down the road in his truck.

She just found out today. Still fresh for her.

 LOL. Things ok tho?

I type the only response I have.Getting there. They will be.

 When are you free?

I grin.Dunno. We’re going to the nursery to grab bulbs to plant today. Maybe tomorrow?

 Sunday dinner?He responds.

 “Hey Gramps,” I say.

 “Yeah?”

I give him my best pretty please expression. “Can we do Sunday dinner with the Nash’s?”

Gramps looks to Mom, who smiles.

 “Why?” she asks.

“Can we, or can’t we?” I push.

“I don’t see why not,” she answers.

 Gramps grunts his ok.

Sunday dinner is on. Tell you parents.

He sends back a smiling emoji and then,Can I see you alone before then? Tonight? Roller skating?

I scrunch my face up. I’ve never been roller skating. I’m okay at ice skating but I have no idea how embarrassing I’ll be in roller skates. I’ve never even tried rollerblading.

“What’s the face for?” Mom asks.

I look up from my phone. “Uh, Langdon wants to go roller skating tonight.”

 She grins. “Fun!”

I pout. “I don’t know how to skate.”

“Just say yes. You’ll have fun.”

I sigh and text Langdon back.

I guess there’s a first time for everything.

 His response is immediate.

I won’t let you fall.Pick you up at seven.
