Her laughter fills the apartment. “Why do I get the feeling that you’re not kidding, and I’m going to come home tomorrow from the gym and youwillbe wearing that.” I’d be lying if I said the idea didn’t cross my mind.

I wink and tickle her side playfully. “I guess you’ll just have to wait and see.”

I grip the back of her neck and pull her lips to mine, just needing to savor this moment with us.

“I’ve got three episodes left to watch. Wanna join me?”

She nods and shuffles off my lap to grab the remote from the table. Instead of returning to where she was on my lap, she settles in by my side. I grab the blanket we keep folded on the back of the couch and drape it across our laps. I prop my feet back up on the coffee table and accept the remote from her.

With one arm perched on the side of the couch, I switch on Netflix and have the other draped along the back of the couch—although not for long. Brynn grabs my hand, linking our fingers before moving it to wrap around her shoulders, and places a soft kiss on my knuckles. I sigh in contentment. This is proof we can combine the old Brynn and Cal with the new aspects of us.

We sneak kisses between scenes, but it never goes more than that. By the time the final credits roll and Netflix suggests what to watch next, Brynn’s breathing has evened out, and her head rests on my shoulder. I know that I still need to email Lexi the details, but I’ll make sure to do it first thing in the morning because I don’t want to disturb her.

“Good night, baby.” I press a soft kiss to her forehead before relaxing my head against the back of the couch. I could easily lift her in my arms and carry her to bed, but I’m enjoying having her in my arms right here—right where she belongs.
