Her angelic face completely transforms, and her eyes embody it. I hold my finger over the click button and take a burst of photos as she angles her face in different ways.

“How was that?”

“Slayed,” Bron says, and I can only nod.

I hit the photos app so I can look at all the shots. Both of them, Lauren, and Winter come stand around me, and we look at their photos.

“This is so Teen Vogue,” I whisper, and Lauren nods.

“We look like Chloe and Halle back in the day.”

“Yes,” Winter says. “God, you two are so beautiful.”

“Thanks,” they say in unison.

They’re so cute.

I get a few shots of them together again. And then, I guide Lauren to stand by them. Then, I take some with just the bride in the middle with one arm around each girl.

The door flings open, and Adri walks in. “I’m sorry. It took CJ a while to go to sleep. The groom’s area is not as—” Her mouth drops open as she looks at the girls. “You two look so grown up.” Her hand flies to her chest. “You don’t look like my baby.”

“Mom,” Bron says and comes to stand by her. “We talked about this. I’m a bridesmaid today, not your baby.”

Adri nods and holds her hands up. “You’re right. Sorry. Felix is way too excited and does not want to sleep. They need extra hands over there. I need to get my makeup done so I look like I belong with you all.”

“Yeah, his excitement is way over the top. He can’t wait to walk down the aisle.” Lauren turns toward the door, and everyone’s mouths—Adri, the makeup artist, Winter, even the young girls—open to speak at once.

I grab her arm. “Where do you think you’re going, Bride of Chucky?”

The next second, we’re all laughing.

“Sorry, I am so used to being the one that can calm him down.”

“I’ll go. You stay here. Be right back.”

“Use something like a baby wipe or a wet cloth on him. Then, lay him down and sit with him for five minutes. Don’t leave it up to Chase, they would end up playing a video game. If he gets an hour nap, he’ll be recharged for the rest of the day.”

I nod, grab the gift I brought my brother, and make my way down the hallway. I try for long, fast strides, but the heels and the tight-fitting dress keep me at a less-than-desired pace.

I knock on the door and am greeted with my oldest brother tossing a sock at Felix and the little boy tossing it back.

“Stop that. You’re all going to be sweaty and gross. Cam, why are you not ready yet? The wedding is in two hours. At least put your clothes on.”

“Hi, Aunt Lux,” Justin says and comes to hug me. I love his hugs. They’re so sweet. Felix comes by next. He’s only wearing an undershirt and shorts.

Beyond the room, Chase’s barber is giving him an extra touch-up.

I do as Lauren tells me and, with Justin’s help, get Felix to lie down. CJ is on the couch across from him, sound asleep. I’m hoping Felix follows soon. But he doesn’t sleep. Instead, he’s asking tons of questions.

“Where is Titi Lo?”

I gently push him back on the couch. “She’s in the bride’s suite.”

“How come she didn’t come with you?

Justin sits next to us. “Felix, don’t you remember? Titi Adri just explained that the groom can’t see the bride before the wedding?”

Felix frowns. “But he sees her all the time. They sleep in the same bed and in the same room and sometimes they shower together. And they lock the door.”
