“Search party?” I asked.
Mercy chuckled. “Clara arranged the whole thing. She said it wasn’t every day that a woman could breathe life into a heart I once called black and dead.”
I chuckled and remember that day like it was yesterday. “I like her, Mercy. Destiny’s special and important to me.”
“Even hearing you say that makes me giddy. We’ll see you soon. Hunker down. I’m bringing the heat.”
“In more ways than one,” Clark said in the background.
“Okay, my ears are bleeding.” I groaned. “We’ll stay put until morning.”
