“I don’t know what kind they’re using yet, but I have a suspicion. I saw them in the kitchen dumping a white powder into the soup from the other night. I didn’t eat it after that, but all of the others who did started to act strange.”

“Strange how?” I asked.

The girl shrugged. “Just strange.” Frankie headed for the door.

“What do you expect us to eat if we can’t eat the food?” I asked.

Frankie shrugged. “Eat the fruit like I’ve been doing. If you’re observant, you’ll see it too. Meet me at midnight behind your bungalow and I’ll show you where the fruit trees are.” She glanced down at my feet. “Wear your sneakers. It’s a bit of a hike.”

Frankie disappeared out the door, and I turned to find Porter standing in the hallway.

“How much of that did you hear?” I asked.

“All of it. What the hell did she mean it was drugged?” he asked.
