“I won’t be the catalyst if it happens. That’s why I haven’t shown you what I can do. I mainly work with the dead or the people who fear for their lives. I can also touch pictures and know whether someone is alive or dead. The reading I got off the picture the Fed’s provided, told me that my sister’s look alike was alive and not dead. I just need to make sure she isn’t in some kind of trouble and in need of our help.”
Dorothy stood in the silence. Her gaze held mine as she propped her arms on the handle of the shovel. “You’ve worked with the police?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She nodded. “Good. Let’s go.”
“Where to?” I asked.
She glanced over her shoulder back at me. “Tit for tat, Ms. Bennett. You tell me what I need to know and I’ll guide you to your answers.”
Vague, but I was totally willing to play this game, as long I could have the answers before the week was up and I had to return home for the wedding. If I didn’t make it back in time for the wedding, there would be no need to know how I would die. My sister Faith was going to kill me.
