Ethan:Or not.
Rylee:thx.
I was late to the sixth date because Ryan and I had gone head-to-head in a Mario Kart battle. The kid loved his cars and spent just as long explaining why he picked each feature as he did playing.
“I don’t get it,” he said as we packed up.
“Computer games? Neither do I.”
“No. You.”
“I’m a simple man. What you see is what you get.”
“Then why are you going out with Rose again?”
“Because she spent big money at the auction.”
“Are you sleeping with her?”
“Hell no …” I blurted out before recovering. “That’s not something I’m gonna talk about with you.”
“Are you going to keep dating her?”
“No.”
“Are you going to date Rylee?”
“Don’t you have places to go, people to see?” My Uber would be here in ten minutes and I hadn’t even showered.
“Don’t hurt her. I don’t like seeing Rylee sad.”
“Is she?” I hadn’t thought that Ryan could be my key to getting the inside goss.
“You’ll never know if you keep avoiding her.”
“Get out of here, you little shit.” I tussled his hair and pushed him towards the door. “Training on Tuesday?”
“Let’s see if you old men can keep up.”
Ryan left, full of swagger.
Ethan to Felicity:How’s Ryan doing at school?
Felicity:Three more days and he can start before school training with you.
Ethan:Hold off for another week. I want him to train with the Hawks another couple of times. The guys like him hanging around and they are good with him.
Felicity:You are a good guy.
Ethan:How’s the surprise going?
Felicity:Can you get Rylee away from the workshop on Tuesday night? If you can give Eric the night off from training we should only need a couple of hours.
Ethan:I’ll figure something out.
Ethan:How do they look?
Felicity:You picked well. They will look amazing. Rylee will either cry and love you, or cry and kill you.
