I’ve questioned several times if there was something wrong with me. Most girls at school lost their virginity by senior year, yet I kept mine intact, never having the impulse to have sex.
I know now, that’s not the case. Because I want Colter with a need that scares me. I want all of him. Every little part. I want him to claim me completely.
“Is this, okay?” he mutters, his voice strained. I nod. His thumb brushes my bottom lip. “Words, Sunshine. I need to hear the words.”
I swallow, using my voice so there’s no confusion. “I want this. I wantyou,Colter.”
His eyes squeeze shut as if my words cause him physical pain.
“You don’t know what you’re asking for, Mila,” he murmurs, his eyes snapping open and meeting mine. My heart cracks open at the turmoil and uncertainty flickering in his green gaze. I hate it. “You don’t even know me.”
Reaching up, I press my palm to his heart.
“I know who you are in here, and that’s all that matters.”
Chapter Twenty-Six
COLTER
Mila gazes at me, her blue-gray eyes full of innocence and something else I can’t quite make out. Her small palm rests over my pounding heart and it feels like she’s reaching into my soul.
I shouldn’t be doing this, it’s reckless. But the way she’s looking at me, begging me to devour her, shatters the small bit of restraint I have left.
She stood up to me, called me out on my shit. It shocked me and, in that moment, I’d realized I had misjudged Mila. She was more. Was brave. Was not afraid to fight for what she wanted.
My cock had turned to stone with her steely determination.
And now, nothing in this world could stop me from claiming her.
“Colter,” she whispers softly, breaking the silence.
“We shouldn’t be doing this,” I murmur, though I know it’s a lost cause. I’ve lost this battle. And I can’t even bring myself to be mad about it.
Her arms wrap around my neck, her chest brushing mine as she anchors me to her. “I want this,”
I smirk, cupping the back of her head and gently tugging her toward me until our foreheads meet. “You do realize what’s going to happen if your father finds out. He’ll fire me.”
It’s not a question but a statement because that’s exactly what’ll happen.
“He won’t find out,” she breathes, her hot minty breath fanning my face. She drops her head and brushes her lips against mine timidly. I know what she wants. But we need to talk about this.
“I’m glad you’re confident. But Mila, he could. You’re not discreet when you check me out. Trust me,” I mutter in amusement.
Pink floods Mila’s cheeks, and she tries to avert her gaze. I reach up, gripping her chin and pulling her eyes back to me.
She sighs. “I try to be subtle, but it’s hard whenyoulook like that.” I chuckle and her eyes hone in my lips, her own curving into a grin. “I like hearing you laugh. And Iloveyour smile. You don’t do it often but when you do…” she trails off, eyes widening as if she can’t believe she just said that.
I laugh once more, squeezing her sides. “Focus.”
She rolls her eyes. “Sorry, it’s easy to get distracted by you. Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes. How I need to make my attraction to you less obvious.” My brows raise, urging her on. she’s stalling. Mila clears her throat. “Brandon doesn’t know anything for sure…but he suspects.”
“What do you mean?” I ask, curious. I mean I figured he suspected something, what with his blatant dislike toward me.
“He told me that he’d seen the way I look at you.”
A smirk curls my lips as I wink at her. “See. Not that discreet.”
She swats at my chest, shaking her head. “Stop. Brandon’s a loose cannon right now.”
