Page 94 of Omega in Hiding

“A bazillion to one.” I lift Ronan into the air and I’m rewarded with a string of drool that lands on my cheek. “Eww. Why does he always drool on me?”

Connor laughs and uses the burp cloth he has to wipe my cheek. “You need to wait for him to get older before that will be any fun. For either of you.”

I sigh and pat the baby’s back. “Babies aren’t much fun at this age, are they?”

Connor rests his head on my shoulder. “No. But they’re cute to look at.”

“Yeah.” I smile, staring down at our son. “He’s so damn pretty, just like you.”

“Like you, you mean.”

“Like both of us.”

“There you go.” He looks up at me under his lashes. “Would you want to have another?”

I gulp. “Right now?”

He laughs. “No, I mean ever?”

“Yes,” I say right away. “I’ll have a hundred babies with you, Connor.”

He winces. “I was thinking maybe just two more.”

“When shall we start trying?”

He meets my gaze. “We don’t use protection. It could happen at any moment.”

“True.” I feel at peace about the whole thing. “The universe will let us know when it’s time.”

“We have a very elaborate birth control method: the universe.” He chuckles and takes my hand. “But I trust fate a hundred percent. After all, it brought you to me.”

“Everything fell into place.” I meet his gaze. “Once you stopped hiding.”

He bites his bottom lip. “I guess you can’t hide from fate.” He rests his head on my shoulder again.

The moment is so perfect. So quiet. So simple. We’re justhappy. My eyes sting because this is all I ever wanted. I can’t think of anything else in life I’d need besides what I have right in this one perfect moment.

Connor sighs, and I know he’s feeling exactly what I’m feeling.

Because that’s how it is when you’re two parts of a whole.
