“You were wise to hire a nanny.”

I frowned. “Yes. Although, they had to send someone else because the girl who was my first choice got sick.”

“Bummer.”

“You have no idea. The guy they sent as a replacement is a pain in the ass.”

He narrowed his eyes. “They sent you a guy?”

“Yes.”

“You have another man living in your house?” He raised his brows.

I grimaced. “Unfortunately, yes. He’s very good with Mia though.”

He shifted to face me. “I’m not sure I like the idea of some strange man living in the same space as my eye-candy.”

I laughed. “I don’t want him there. But taking care of Mia alone is out of the question. I want to have a life.”

“I see. So he’s a necessary evil.”

“Yep.” I stretched my legs out in front of me. “He’s apparently very popular with his clients. I find him to be extremely bossy.”

“You prefer to be the boss.”

“Definitely.”

He leaned closer. “How about I take you upstairs and let you bossmearound?”

“Probably not a good idea.”

“I figured you’d say that.”

“I don’t want to ruin a good thing.” I found Scott attractive, I simply didn’t want things to get complicated between us. Nothing complicated things more than sex.

He sighed and said good-naturedly, “One of these days I’ll have my way with you. You just wait.”

I laughed and then frowned when my phone chirped. I glanced at it, noticing a text from Thomas. “Speak of the Devil. My bossy manny just texted me.”

“What does he want?”

“Let me see…”

Sorry to bother you at work. Mia is running a temperature. Do you have any children’s Advil in the house?

I frowned, uneasiness shifting through me. “Shit. Mia has a temperature.”

“Already? Who is she, Typhoid Mary?”

I shot him a disapproving glance. “Hey.”

“What?”

“Don’t make fun of her. Poor little thing was an emotional wreck today.” I set my beer on the coffee table and stood. “I should go.”

“Why? Isn’t that why you have a nanny? So he can handle this kind of crap?”

“Yes and no. And apparently, it’s manny when it’s a dude.”
