“We’re not a couple.”

I gave a hard laugh. “You spend all of your days off with that clown. You seriously don’t care that you’re seeing a guy who fucks around?”

“You act like you know him, but you don’t.”

“As I told you, my pal knows him. He’s had sex with himnumeroustimes. In bathrooms. Cars. Alleys. Crispin will let Scott fuck him literally anywhere.”

His face tensed. “Scott?”

“Yeah.”

He curled his lip. “Oh, right.Thatguy.”

I frowned. “What does that mean?”

He gave a humorless laugh. “At least it finally makes sense why you don’t like Crispin.”

“I don’t understand what you’re getting at.”

“I saw the note from Scott. I know you two slept together.” His gaze was borderline accusing. “That’s why you hate Crispin. Because he slept with Scott.”

“What?” I laughed. “I’ve never slept with Scott.”

Thomas’ gaze flickered. “But, the note implied…”

“What note are you talking about?” I scowled.

He suddenly looked uncertain. “When you wanted me to bring you that file that one time. I saw a note on your desk. It was a pink piece of paper. It was from Scott.”

Squinting at him I laughed. “That note wasn’t about me and Scott. That was about Scott andBrody.”

“Brody?” Thomas’ voice went up. “I don’t understand.”

I winced. “Never mind. I shouldn’t have said anything.”

Thomas moved closer, looking bewildered. “You’re telling me Brody and Scott slept together?”

“No.” I sighed.

“Well, you implied it.”

Groaning, I said, “It’s not my secret to share.”

“Why would Brody sleep with Scott?” He rubbed his jaw. “I thought Brody was straight.”

“I suspect he’s bisexual.” I grimaced. “But… they didn’t sleep together.”

“I swear, I’m getting more confused.”

“It’s… complicated.” I exhaled roughly. “I’m trying to say my reason for disliking Crispin has nothing to do with Scott. I’m not… jealous of Scott.”

I’m jealous of you.

“But you dislike Crispin?”

“Obviously.” I chuffed.

His expression seemed to soften. “Do you feel protective of me or something?”
