Jessie loved—really loved—when he could spread out Seth on the bed, on the floor, up against the wall, and lay on top and worship his big beautiful body. Seth’s tight ass was made for him. belonged to him, and knew from the blissed out boneless happy mess his mate was left in, he felt the same way. Jesse adored him. Maddox adored him, and up to last night he’d been convinced Seth adored them both right back.

They had been sprawled out in their usual sticky sated mess. Jesse in danger of falling asleep and not tending to his man like he normally did, when Seth rolled over and looked Jesse right in the eye. “Do you think it makes me less because you top?”

Jesse’s languid post-sex haze disappeared like smoke. He was thankful his brain had kicked him and stopped him either laughing at the ridiculous question or scoffing for the same reason, because it clearly wasn’t ridiculous to Seth. Jesse opened his eyes widely and propped himself up on one elbow. Seth was on his side, curled in almost protectively on himself.

“There are a lot of ways I could show you how much I vehemently disagree with that but I’d like to know where all this is coming from, B?”

B as a nickname was shortened from one of their private jokes. Seth had said if he was a bear shifter he would be called Baloo from “Jungle Book.” It was a joke about his size. Jesse had simply asked if that make him a Paddington because he was shorter than Seth? Paddington Bear was one of Maddox’s favorite DVD’s.

Paddy and B became their private nicknames for each other and only used in private affectionate moments.

Seth just shrugged at the question and didn’t answer. He just wished Seth trusted him enough to tell him. He was hurt that clearly wasn’t the case, but he squashed those feelings immediately because this needed to be about Seth. Tit for tat insecurities weren’t going to help anyone.

Jesse lay back down and pulled Seth to lay with his head on his shoulder that Seth normally loved, but right now it seemed Seth only allowed it grudgingly. “I think no one gets to decide what happens in our bed except us two, but if you would like to experiment, I’m all for that.”

Seth blinked at him as if he hadn’t expected the immediate acceptance. He didn’t answer immediately but Jesse could tell he was thinking things through. “What if I suck?”

“My dick?” Jesse volleyed back immediately. He could feel his body stirring immediately at the question.

“You know what I mean.” But there was a hint of laughter in those big gorgeous eyes,

“How is that even possible?”

Seth looked immediately skeptical so Jesse wrapped both arms around him. He nuzzled the spot on Seth’s throat that usually made him shiver, but Seth just seemed to cling on tighter. Jesse’s throat constricted. “Let’s look at this logically. Kind of pros and cons.”

He felt Seth relax a fraction of an inch and knew his logical mathematical brain liked that idea. “Pro’s.” Jesse pretended to think. “Firstly it means you will have your body all over mine. Skin, tongue, teeth, and I get to spend quality time with your cock.”

Jesse could see Seth working through that. “But isn’t that kind of the same?”

“Okay then,” Jesse said as if grudgingly allowing it. “Pro’s – I get to spend time with my favorite person in the whole world.Maddox doesn’t count,” Jesse hurriedly tagged on and that drew a smile.

Seth chewed his lip. “That’s the same.”

Jesse sighed. “Con’s then.” He was silent for a good long time then glanced at Seth. “You’re gonna have to help me out here because I can’t think of any.”

Seth smiled grudgingly. “I know what you’re doing. Thing is you’re not an alpha so you might need me to take care of you sometimes.”

“Not in the true sense, no. I have no wish to run a pack, and I like taking your advice. I mean, you usually know what you’re talking about.” Seth opened his mouth but Jesse carried on. “Do you know—truly understand what a gift you give me?” Seth frowned and waved at himself likeyou have gotta be kidding me.

“I don’t mean you, or not just. Let’s put the whole “taking care of” argument on one side for the second because you have looked after us since the very second we met and found a wild animal—a male one at that—about to give birth, and you just rolled up your sleeves and put the water on to boil. What I mean is, that you let me love you the way I want to. For someone that grew up with so many rules concerning sex and mating, finding someone that didn’t care about those sort of rules was more than I ever dreamed for. And being an alpha—as in dominant—doesn’t mean dominant in all things. It doesn’t translate to being dominant in the bedroom.” He could see Seth wasn’t convinced and Jesse finally blurted out what had been making him frantic for weeks.

“I understand if you’ve decided I come with too much baggage. Apart from Maddox, there’s the whole finding out about shifters and then there’s always the tiny worry my family might decide to look for me.” They’d talked that subject out though. Livingin fear wasn’t something they were going to do, and they both wanted to put down roots.

“Are you leaving me?” Jesse choked out.

Seth’s eyes widened dramatically. “Me? Of course not. How could you possibly—”

“Then where is all this coming from?” Jesse begged. Seth was silent and Jesse knew he had to say something he wasn’t sure he wanted the answer to. “I saw you last week.”

Seth frowned. “Last week?”

“With Max. May’s brother.” But Seth knew who he meant. Max was one of the researchers that worked for Zeke trying to reduce the risks associated with male omegas giving birth. “I had to collect some relocation documents for that couple in the bottom cabin, and I went into the offices. You were stood chatting to Max and looking comfortable with him. I was so jealous,” Jesse admitted.

“You never said,” Seth said clearly astonished.

“Neither did you.”

Seth looked immediately guilty and Jesse’s heart sank. He shrugged out from under Seth and rolled over, sitting up. “He’s a bear shifter, but he doesn’t have someone else’s baby and he doesn’t have a deranged family—”
