“Don’t be a dumbass Alec, I know you aren’t. That was more than just attention.”
“Okay, you’re right, it was something that never should have come out. You didn’t look like a hooker.”
“Thank you,” she muttered, crossing her arms.
“Excuse me miss, is this guy bothering you?” We both looked up to see one of the guys that had been eyeing her had made his way over.
“Uh, no. He’s my date for the night.”
“From friends to date, I can handle that.”
I winced as her toe connected with my shin, but I couldn’t stop the laugh.
“Really, I can have him removed,” the guy said. I finally stood up, which caused Skylar to stand as well.
“Look, dude, she’s in good hands.” I threw some bills on the table, already sensing that he wouldn’t leave us alone, then reached for hers. But the look he gave her had me clenching my jaw.
I knew that look. And I had to put an end before he did something else. One I knew she wouldn’t like, but I was left with no choice. This scum had his eyes set on her. And though she looked amazing, it was also a number that was eye-catching, but not all attention was good.
So, once Skylar reached my side, I wrapped my arm around her waist and turned to leave. “Sides, she’s far too expensive for me to toss her away now,” I tossed over my shoulder.
With that, I quickly led us out, glad no one heard that passing comment. And I could only pray she let me explain, because it’s not like she would pick up on the guy.
Once outside, without pause, though, Skylar turned to face me, her eyes blazing. I knew there would be no forgiveness from her. Not after that look.
“Let me explain,” I started but her hand clenched my shoulder and before I could react, her knee connected with my dick one more time.
“I’m done, Alec. I will have the papers drawn up and ready. You didn’t fucking change, just a different game! I won’t tell Demi or James, but you better keep your fucking distance. Their wedding will go on without a hitch, no thanks to you!”
With a huff she turned and left me on the sidewalk, clutching my throbbing dick.
Chapter eighteen
Skylar
“What nerve,” I muttered, as I parked my car in the visitor parking area, two days later.
Yes, I was still fuming over him.
How dare he call me a damn hooker again!
He could have just told the guy I was his wife. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t the right time, especially since I seemed to have been the one recently to push for the divorce. However, that’s all beside the point.
He didn’t have to say what he said. So, he has no one to blame but himself for my anger.
I glanced around, checking the full lot.
I didn’t want to do it now, but I didn’t have time. I had to leave for home in just a bit, and I wanted these papers signed asap.
I took a deep breath, grabbed the folder, and then climbed out of my car, heading for the office to check in, if I needed to.
“Yes, can I go see Mr. De Marco please?” I asked the lady at the front counter.
“How do you know him?”
“I’m his wife. I have something important to give him before I leave town.”
“Huh, he hasn’t mentioned a wife yet. But that would explain his wedding band. He’s wrapping up his class, but you can go back.” She pointed me down the walkway and then told me to make a left.
