“Seriously, hurry. It’s already beginning to heal, and he’ll have lost the leg if you don’t do something.”

Frost didn’t know how he knew, but it was like a world of knowledge opened up to him—like it had always been there, slightly hidden behind a veil. He went to work, reattaching veins and muscle. Tissue healed around his work, making his job easier. The screaming had stopped. His gaze shot to the man’s face, hoping he had passed out. Instead, he found the man’s lips wrapped around the wrist of his friend. Blood poured down his chin. The guy who kidnapped him looked weak.

“If you don’t stop, you’ll both die.”

The guy beneath his surgical tools retracted some seriously scary-looking fangs. He visibly gritted his teeth while Frost worked.

The door of the tiny one-room hunting cabin was suddenly ripped off its hinges. The angry scream of a snow leopard filled the air. Frost glanced toward the doorway and saw his heart in leopard form. He immediately turned into a very nude Gemini.

“You took my mate.”

He sounded scary. Frost kind of wanted to fan his face. Instead, he kept his focus locked on his patient. “Hey, baby. You’re showing everyone what’s mine.”

“Yeah, you are,” his abductor said, sounding like a pervert.

Gemini immediately turned into a leopard again. He was so fucking cute with his thick fur, except he was also massive—likely three times the size of a normal snow leopard. Gemini moved to his side and plopped down beside him, staring at the two men who had kidnapped Frost. Frost felt the way Gemini stayed poised to pounce.

Have you been hurt?

“No. It seems I was needed for a medical emergency.”

Finish so I can eat them.

Frost chuckled and shook his head. He tried to stay focused on his work and not the millions of new pieces of information filling his brain at a rapid-fire pace.

“How did this happen to you?” Frost had to concentrate on anything except the way the world turned on its head.

“Lucifer.”

Frost hesitated for a second before quickly getting back to work before this leg healed half connected.

I was warned he was in the area.

“I met Lucifer early tonight. He seemed nice enough. I can’t imagine him doing this, but I can’t picture anyone doing this.”

You spoke with Lucifer? We’re talking about this later.

“I know you’re not talking to me like I’m keeping secrets.” Frost kept talking out loud, since he didn’t know if Gemini could hear him the way Frost heard Gemini.

I can. You have a beautiful mind.

A smile tugged at Frost’s lips. He kept his gaze locked on his job while Gemini’s enormous body kept him safe and warm. “What are your names?”

“Audor,” his patient said through clenched teeth.

“Leif.”

Frost nodded. “Strong Norse names.”

“It is fortunate to be favored,” Audor said, surprising Frost with his tolerance for pain. A thought hit.

Are these actual Vikings? I mean, they’re obviously vampires or something along those lines, but are they also actually the real deal, genuine Vikings?

Yes. Fucking idiot ones.

Frost fought a laugh. It was beyond obvious Gemini was pissed and had no intention of letting this go. Finally, the last stitches came together and healed. Frost was so exhausted, he just wanted to fall into Gemini’s arms. He peeled off his surgical gloves. “Okay. You should be good. You’ll need blood, but the leg should hold.”

Audor sat up and eyed his leg. A huge, goofy smile lit his face. “Look at that. I still have a leg.”
