Upbeat music poured from the building when Kylo pulled open the door. The place was too well lit inside to be a nightclub. Plus, it looked totally dead. They rounded the corner and Austen found himself staring at a dance studio. It was obviously private. There were no signs marking the building.
“Knock. Knock.”
Austen thought Kylo’s greeting went unheard until the lone man inside danced their way. He couldn’t look away. Austen had never seen a man so delicate and beautiful. His every move was flawless and light—like he floated through the air. His bright green eyes held an innocence that made Austen feel like he should straighten his clothes and make sure his hair didn’t stand on end.
The man’s gaze locked on Austen, holding him captivated, but he headed for Kylo. “My butterfly.” He had an accent Austen couldn’t place, but it weakened Austen’s knees.
Kylo got pulled into the man’s dance. Together, they made the most gorgeous couple he had ever seen. Austen couldn’t even blink. He had never been so mesmerized. Their dance slowed and Kylo spoke close to the other man’s ear. Then Austen watched the guy kiss Kylo and say something that stayed between them. For a moment, they stared at each other so lovingly, it swelled Austen’s throat. Then Kylo’s dance ended at Austen’s side. Before Austen saw it coming, he spun across the floor in the arms of his mystery man. For a moment, he simply allowed himself to be swept around the room before coming to his senses.
Finally, he managed to make his mouth work. “I’m Austen.”
“Rain.”
“Beautiful.” Even Austen didn’t know if he meant the name or the man. It didn’t matter. It was both.
Rain’s mouth lifted in one corner. He left Austen at Kylo’s side. They held each other’s gaze. Austen couldn’t breathe. He didn’t know what happened to his brain, but it was fuzzy. There was also something going on with his breathing.
“You’ll see me again.” With that promise from Rain hanging between them, he turned away, leaving Austen floored.
Somehow, Austen found himself buckled in the car and halfway to Beau’s place. He finally managed to unglue his tongue from the roof of his mouth. “Who was that?”
The silence that followed his question had Austen giving up on learning the answer. Then Kylo shattered his world. “That was the deadliest assassin in the western world and he’s about to kill Reggie for me.”
Well, fuck. Austen was more aroused than he had ever been in his life.
Chapter Nine
As much as Beauwould have loved to teach Kylo a lesson about dealing with bad patients, Kylo never allowed it. Allow might be a strong term. It was more like Kylo made Beau want to do everything Kylo asked. He had no desire to leave the bed until Kylo lured him into slow walks to get back his strength. Then they would be right back to bed. Kylo stayed with him. They watched movies, which Beau hadn’t really done in years. Kylo showed him funny videos on his phone. He set up bedside visits with Beau’s sons. One day, Beau even got to enjoy a fashion show after Beau ordered a ton of pretty things for Kylo. He wanted Kylo to have all the lace. Unfortunately, it got a little harder every day not to make love to his angel. Still, he loved falling asleep every night with Kylo in his arms. Love was becoming a familiar theme in his thoughts. He always thought he wouldn’t feel that evil emotion again. It didn’t seem love cared what he thought.
In a short, pink lace robe and sheer lace underwear, Kylo sat on Beau’s thighs and checked his bandages.
On his back, Beau watched, hard as a rock and dying inside. He ran his hands up Kylo’s thighs. A sweet smile touched Kylo’s lips, but his gaze never wavered from its task. Beau snagged the satin belt on the robe and tugged, untying the piece. The two halves fell apart, giving Beau a better view of the body he adored.
“It’s a little scary how easily you control me. A sexy outfit and the right seat and I’m yours to do with as you like.”
Kylo’s smile grew. “Why scary?” His gaze finally met Beau’s. “I’d never use my powers for evil.”
Beau hauled Kylo higher so he could feel how badly Beau wanted him. “I’d argue you already are. I’m dying to be inside you.”
Kylo leaned forward and braced his palms on either side of Beau’s head. The lace of his robe tickled Beau’s skin, adding to the torture. “If I thought for a second you’d let me have complete control, so you’re not straining in any way, I’d give you whatever you wanted.”
Beau’s fingertips slipped beneath Kylo’s thong, skimming his crack. “I can be very good when properly motivated.”
A heavy knock sounded, making Beau growl. Kylo dropped his forehead onto Beau’s shoulder for a second before rolling from the bed. Beau wadded up the comforter and pulled it higher to hide his erection. He didn’t allow anyone entry until he fullyenjoyed the show of Kylo heading inside the bathroom. Damn. Beau didn’t want to be good.
“Come in.”
Henry strolled in all smiles. “Hey, boss. You’re looking better. Kylo is doing a great job of getting you back up and on your feet.”
He was up all right. “He’s the perfect nurse. What’s up?”
“I just wanted to give a bit of a report, which is none whatsoever really. There’s still no sign of Reggie. It’s like the bastard disappeared from the planet.”
Beau blew out a tired breath. “Okay. I won’t feel safe letting Kylo out of my sight again until I know he’s dead. It’s looking less and less likely he plans to resurface.”
Henry nodded. “He has to know he’s dead if he ever shows his face again, and not in a quick and easy way.”
Beau’s gaze slid toward the bathroom. If he could get Henry out of here, he could go on the hunt.
