“Hi, Talia,” Eddie addresses me once he makes it to our table.
“Eddie.”
“You look like you are having a good time. I have some pretty good information for you from what I’ve gathered tonight.”
“Eddie, I’m off duty right now and don’t want to hear what you’ve heard even a little bit. Okay?”
“Okay,” he says a little petulantly. “Mind if I sit with you for a minute, then?”
“Sure,” I say. Asher doesn’t look too pleased with me, but might as well allow him something.
I feel a tingle on the top of my head and look up to see Jordan and a few other men I assume are werewolves as well heading towards our table.
Jordan smirks at me once they near our sitting area but otherwise remains standing below the raised platform we sit on. “Talia.”
“Jordan,” I acknowledge him. I turn my eyes to his companions. “Jordan’s friends, I assume.”
“Talia,” the one to Jordan’s right, smiles at me. “We met the other night.”
The man stands slightly shorter than Jordan but not by much. He, like Jordan and the others around him, are covered in muscles that any women would appreciate if the glances from the surrounding females are any indication. His eyes are dark brown to the point they are almost black, set into chiseled features of defined cheekbones and jaw. He has a clean trimmed beard that matches his hair that is a mixture of black and grey with the grey being more prominent. My eyes slit in suspicion. “The grey wolf that was with him?” I nod my head towards Jordan.
“The one and only,” he smirks. “Name is Eric.”
I nod towards him in acknowledgement. “What can we do for you?” I ask.
“Just enjoying a night out and saw you all having a good time. Thought we would see if you would like some added company and fun.”
Before I can say anything, Eddie opens his big mouth. “We don’t associate with mangy mutts. So, no, you can’t join us.”
My head snaps quickly towards him so fast that if I were human, I would have whiplash. With my bitchy and cold demeanor I wear when dealing with insolent coven members and assholes in general, I hiss at him. “Last I checked, I can speak for myself and no one asked you. You have no clue who you are talking to and with words like that thrown out so flippantly, you’ll get yourself and those around you killed. Get off your ass and get back to your job.”
His face scrunches in anger. “They’re werewolves—”
“I’m fully aware of what the hell they are but that does not give you the right to speak for any of us here as we all outrank you. And again, they weren’t fucking talking to you, were they? Now, go and don’t make me repeat myself.”
He heeds my warning and stomps off like a child throwing a tantrum.
He’s likely to go bitching about this at the coven house and your father might hear about you interacting with wolves, Danny throws down the bond into my mind.
I’ll deal with it if it becomes an issue. Doesn’t excuse him interjecting himself into the conversation and speaking for me. Last I checked, he isn’t one of the members in the coven cleared to engage with the werewolves. Jordan could decide to rip his head off for the disrespect he just spewed from his mouth.
Some may not see it that way and cheer him on for talking like that to werewolves.
I don’t give a shit, Danny. I’m not tolerating that shit, and he could seriously cause us issues like I called him out on for the coven.Hence why he is on the list of members who aren’t cleared to engage with werewolves while on duty.
Agreed. What do you think the wolves want anyway?
He said for company and fun.
And you believe that?
Until he gives me a reason not to, I will for now.
Okay. On another note, you want to tell me when you learned his name was Jordan?
I stay silent as I can’t give him the truth. He can’t know that I’ve been interacting with Jordan more than the one night they messed up our fight Jackson during the wolfsbane deal. Thankfully though I don’t have time to try to stumble for some acceptable answer that won’t have him asking more questions.
“Talia,” Jordan calls my name bringing me out of my head and the conversation with Danny. I turn from glaring after Eddie and bring my focus back to Jordan.
