“Oh, gods,” Linus whispered. His entire face turned red.
Storm winced. “Yeah. I should just... go. I’m sorry. I was out of line. You weren’t supposed to see that.”
He had the decency to blush, just a little. Linus’ face grew redder.
Neither of them pointed out that it was obvious Storm had been jerking off to him.
With his shirt, Storm hurriedly scrubbed off the mess on his body. Then he wrapped it around his cock and got his wobbly legs under himself.
“Look, we don’t have to speak of this ever again,” Storm said. “If you’d like, we can pretend this never happened at all.”
Linus stared. He looked down at himself, squawked, and yanked the sheets over his naked body.
Storm grinned slightly. “You don’t have to be embarrassed, you know. You look fucking amazing.”
“I do?” Linus scrunched up his face adorably.
Storm had been about to escape. But Linus’ expression set his senses tingling with unease. “Yes. Don’t you know that?”
Linus opened and closed his mouth, glancing at his covered body. “No one’s told me that before.”
Storm froze. “You can’t be serious.”
“Why can’t I be?” Linus asked, sounding offended.
“You’re... well, older than me. Surely there have been alphas who have swept you off your feet with compliments.”
At that, the professor looked away. “I’ve had compliments, but nothing quite so... heartfelt.”
The longer Storm stared, and the longer Linus didn’t try to turn it into a joke, the worse his bad feeling grew. “But you’ve had alpha stalkers. I mean, bad ones. Didn’t they have anything nice to say to you?”
Linus glanced at him sharply. “How did you know about them?”
Storm shrugged uncomfortably. “I, uh, I might’ve seen them hounding you once or twice.”
Linus watched him for a long moment. He glanced at his bed, then back up at Storm. “You’ve seen more than that. You—You’re the biker who hauls them away when they start to follow me on the street.”
Storm scratched the back of his neck, caught. “Yeah. I wasn’t happy when you had your Jeep in the shop that one time, andyou walked everywhere. Fucking alphas swarmed around you like flies. Did they not have the decency to compliment you?”
That had been three months ago. Storm had panicked when he had dispatched one terrible alpha, only to have Linus disappear and be hounded by another.
Linus’ eyes widened. “How long—Just how long have you been following me?”
Storm squirmed. “Are you sure you want to know?”
Linus wet his lips. “Yes.”
“Just about four months.”
“Four months!?”
Crap.Storm backed away toward the bedroom door. “I promise to keep you safe. You don’t have to see me again.”
Linus looked horrified. “No, wait!”
Storm paused, his heart thumping. He almost couldn’t meet his omega’s eyes, but he owed Linus that much. “Is there something I can do to apologize? Make it better somehow?”
Linus shook his head, and Storm’s heart sank. “No, I don’t need compensation or an apology.”
