Storm exchanged a look with Linus.
“Couldn’t hurt, I guess,” Linus said.
Together, they read the hastily scribbled lines on the order sheets.
Once upon a time, my butt and your butt became soulmates. They gave each other a butthole kiss and taught each other the answer to life. What’s the answer, you ask? It’s when you put lipstick on your buttholes and rub it all over each other’s bodies.
Linus sucked in a slow breath. “I—I remember this.”
“Really?” Storm frowned.
“Not these lines, exactly.” Linus cringed. “Emmy gave Rex some other lines and taught him how to read them. And Rex—He didn’t know any better. He gave Olson one of Emmy’s pickup lines, thinking it would please him. I felt so bad for Rex when Olson told me.”
Storm groaned and buried his face in his hands. “I can’t even blame either of them. Rex tries really hard for Olson.”
“And Emmy was just trying to help in his own way.” Linus chuckled, shaking his head. “But I think it’s really sweet. Rex fought death and torture to make his way back to his omega.”
“I would do the same for you, you know,” Storm said quietly.
Linus inhaled sharply.
“Not that I know how to be reincarnated, but I would do everything I can to come back to you.”
“Storm...” Linus looked up at him, his gaze so vulnerable.
Storm gave a small smile. “I don’t expect an answer. It’s just how I feel.”
“It’s almost too much,” Linus mumbled. “All that for me.”
“You gave me a purpose, all those years ago. For a while there, before I found your videos, I had absolutely nothing to look forward to. Just four endless years of staring at concrete walls going crazy because I killed the wrong person. You made it bearable just by being you.”
Linus looked a little overwhelmed. “Oh, Storm.”
Storm smiled ruefully. “Sorry. That was a lot to unload onto you.”
“You’ve already unloaded plenty. I can take more.” Linus blushed, his ears turning pink.
Did he—Did he mean... theotherkind of unloading?
Linus really was something special.
Storm laughed. “You’re so gorgeous. I’m thankful every day that you let me close.” He leaned in and pressed a kiss to Linus’ forehead. “So, what’s with ‘Professor Honeybee’?”
They were heading back to Linus’ Jeep, Storm’s arm around Linus’ waist once more. Storm kept an eye on their surroundings.
For the past few days, he had been plagued by Hades’ message:
Dert Waters has been looking into Linus’ paper trails. Be careful.
It made him restless, knowing that Linus’ ex was somewhere out there, hovering nearby. Waiting to hurt Linus again.
Storm wanted to hunt down the shitstain, but doing so would leave Linus unguarded. It would be just their luck for Dert to strike while Storm was distracted. And Storm would never forgive himself if that happened.
“Emmy was calling me Professor B,” Linus explained, pulling Storm out of his dark thoughts. “But that was too boring for him, so he decided to make my name more interesting.”
Storm laughed. “He sure did.”
As they neared the parking lot, a movement caught Storm’s eye.
