“Boy, I swear I can’t wait to put you in line.”

“Neither can I.” I smiled.

“It’s actually kind of cute that you’re so unruly. I like a challenge.”

“I guess you’re in luck then.”

“I’m not going to lie. You’re sexy as hell in that bathing suit. I see you forgot what I told you about modesty, though. Every single man out here is looking at your titties hanging all out and wondering what you have under that skirt. Not to mention that the damn bathing suit is the same color of your skin. You look like you’re naked.”

“Oh, you haven’t even seen the best part,” I said, smirking as I tugged the string to release the sarong. “Now, they don’t have to wonder. By the way, kiss my ass.”

I planned to saunter away from Zane making sure that he had a nice view of my ass as I walked away from him. I only took a few steps before I was swept up into someone’s arms. Before I could scream their lips were pressed to my ear.

“Shh. Don’t make a fucking scene,” he growled, nearly causing me to scream again.

“Wait a minute. What the hell?”

He only carried me a short distance before placing me on my feet and shoving me inside. We were in the house, but I didn’t get a chance to look around before I was yanked into a room a few feet away from the door. After slamming and locking the door, he turned his attention back to me.

Everything seemed to move in slow motion as the realization set in. It was Liam! The way his eyes seared through me almost caused me to burst into flames. Holding me under my arms, he picked me up and sat me on the counter. He grabbed my chin and crashed his lips into mine.

I nearly melted off the countertop as our tongues mingled feverishly. I wrapped my arms around his neck, but just as abruptly as he’d kissed me, he snatched away. Liam’s chest heaved and flames danced behind his eyes as he stared me down. It didn’t matter how angry he looked. I was so happy to see him that I refused to let him go even after realizing that he was wet.

“Lee Lee, what are you doing here?” I asked, looking up expectantly but never releasing my hold around his neck.

“Syre asked me to come. I’m glad he did too.”

“So, you weren’t going to let me know you were here? You were just splashing around in the pool having a good old time, huh?”

“The better question is what the fuck are you doing?”

“You already know what I’m doing here. The dude I was talking to is the one I was telling you about. The one they set me up with.”

“That’s not what I’m talking about, Divine. Fuck him.” He scowled. “Why you out here with your ass out? You look naked in this swimsuit. You know it’s not me to tell you how to dress, but I gotta draw the line somewhere. I’m already struggling to keep my composure watching niggas eyeing you like you’re a Wagyu tenderloin, and then you start putting on extra and showing your entire ass and shit. Come on, Divine. Is that part of the plan too?”

“No, Lee Lee. You don’t understand. He’s rude as hell and trying to tell me how to dress and everything. I really just wanted to piss him off.”

“You’re acting like you’re nine instead of twenty-nine. I don’t give a fuck about you trying to piss him off. I suggest you put this cover up or wrap or whatever it is back on unless you want me to fuck one of these niggas up.”

“Liam, come on now. I’m sure they already gave you the ‘be on your best behavior’ speech just like they gave me. There are supposed to be all kinds of important people in the business here or something. I was just having a little fun.”

“You think I give a fuck about them folks out there? I will turn this fucking party out. Either you can put that thing back on, or I can go out there and embarrass you and your boy toy by knocking one of these niggas out for having reckless ass eyes.”

“You don’t have to do that,” I said, shaking my head.

Having Liam so close changed the energy around me. Suddenly, I felt at peace. Fuck Zane and his dumb ass pool party. The only thing I cared about was Liam. I wanted so badly to tell him that the only reason I was doing this shit was for him. Some part of me didn’t want him trying to share that burden. I just needed him to play along for a while.

“Did you miss me?” I asked as I secured the sarong around my waist.

“What?” he snapped as if my question was absurd.

“I asked if you missed me. I’m not afraid to admit that I missed you, Liam.”

“Why you keep playing with me, Cookie?” he quizzed.

“I’m not playing, Liam. I missed you.”

“Yes the hell you are. You’re here with your new boyfriend, but you want me to profess my undying love for you. I’m not with that shit.”
