“You want to fuck in the closet?”

“Seems appropriate. Do you have a problem with that?”

“Nailing you against a wall? No, I’m good with it. Two fully working—if slightly overused—balls here.”

“Maybe we could install some kind of padded bench in there? Save my knees.”

Or I could get a pair of those foam knee pads the gardener used when he was weeding? In a better colour, obviously. A whole new world had opened up, and I had plenty of exploring to do. Cosy dates, a shared home, adventures with Heath at my side.

But for now, I’d start with a toned six-pack and those deep Vs that led down to my favourite part of his anatomy.

Twenty-Eight

“The place looks amazing.” I hugged Salma tightly and looked over her shoulder at the decorations. As always, she’d put a ton of effort in, and the community centre had been transformed into a grassy paradise. “Did you get tokens in place of the eggs?”

“Of course.” She leaned back and studied me at arm’s length. “You look great. Tanned and toned and…happy?”

“I am happy.”

“Heath took good care of you?” Salma raised an eyebrow.

I glanced back to where he was talking to Eis and Liam, looking utterly delicious in a leather jacket, ass-hugging jeans, and a soft-as-clouds cashmere jumper I’d picked out for him.

My husband.

I leaned in close and whispered into Salma’s ear. “I married him.”

She choked on her coffee. “What? That’s a joke, right? That’s a joke?”

“Shhh. Mama’s coming, and we haven’t told her yet.”

“Are you serious?”

I peeled back my fingerless glove so she could see the ring. “Yup.”

“Oh my freaking— Hey, Mrs. K-R. How’s it going?”

“Why isn’t Eisen wearing his bunny costume?” Mama asked. “The children will begin arriving in twenty minutes.”

“I think he’s leaving it till the last possible moment.”

“He needs to hurry along. And where’s Robert? He only has to attend a handful of events each year; being late is unacceptable.”

“I haven’t seen him.”

“Well, can you call him?”

Mama moved on to her next victim, and Salma turned to me with a groan.

“Do I have to?”

“No—we can manage without one chick, and I don’t care if Robert breaks the terms of his trust fund.”

“When are you going to tell your parents about Heath?”

“I’ll pick the right moment, and this isn’t it.”

Polly strolled in, filming with her phone. She panned slowly around the room, narrating as she went, telling her followers more about the centre’s work. With Spencer still in jail, his restaurant was in danger of going under, especially now that more video of the stripper incident had come out. Polly was trying to distance herself, but so far, she’d resisted the urge to kick him while he was down.
