“Fine then.” I pout like a petulant kid and she laughs. “You go ahead and work while I sit in the living room on my lonesome and watch TV and feel bored and just think about how much I love you.”
“I’m pretty confident that you have other things to do. You are the new Wolf of Wall Street, right?” She giggles. “You run a billion-dollar corporation. I think there’s plenty of things that you could be reading up on or thinking about, asides from me.”
“Are you telling me you shouldn’t be the absolute apple of my eye? The focus of my life.”
She laughs again. “I think that would be quite toxic and unhealthy if I was the only thing you ever thought about.”
“Then I suppose I’m toxic and unhealthy.” I say dramatically.
She pushes me away lightly. “You’re too much, Wes.”
“What, just because I love you so?”
“I love you too.” She kisses me again. “But I’m working.”
“Fine. So, have you spoken to Erica about moving in with us again?”
“I have. But I don’t know that she wants to.” She lets out a deep sigh. “I think it would be absolutely amazing. And, I mean, it’s something we’ve always talked about upon graduating.”
“She didn’t expect me to be in the mix though, did she?” I say, shaking my head.
“No, I think she is still a little bit taken aback by the fact that we’re together and she and I are not going to be living our best Sex in the City lives, navigating the bars and the streets of New York looking for hot men.”
“Well, I’m glad you’re not doing that. And I sure hope that my little sister is not going to be doing that.” I frown. “I don’t want any men taking advantage of her?”
“I mean, she has two older brothers and you guys had friends. She knows something about men.”
“She is as wide eyed and bushy tailed as you are. You know that.” I stare at Sabrina for a couple of moments. “I don’t want my little sister strutting her stuff around New York City. I don’t want her to get hurt.”
“What does that mean?” Sabrina puts her hands on her hips. “I know you’re not being a hypocrite. I know you just didn’t say?—”
“My bad.” I say quickly. “I didn’t mean to be a hypocrite She can do whatever she wants. It’s her body. I want her to have fun. I just don’t want her to get hurt or used or, you know. She’s a Carrington. And once people realize she’s related to THE Carrington’s, a lot of horrible men are going to come out of the woodwork.” I sigh. “But I suppose it’s not really my business to say anything, is it?”
“No, it’s not. She has to learn and she has to be able to do what she wants to do.” Sabrina offers me a small smile. “I know you love her, and you and Miles are great big brothers but it’s notlike you guys have been celibate and single your entire lives. You guys have dated around. And I’m sure there have been plenty of women who have only wanted you because?—”
“Because I’m so good looking.” I say.
She rolls her eyes.
“Because I’m charismatic.”
“Yeah, keep telling yourself that.” She giggles.
“Because I’m intelligent and witty.”
“Because you have money.” she interrupts me. “You’re a billionaire, and those in the know cannot resist that. I mean, that’s why you had so many thousands of women calling you, who are still calling, you know.”
I glare at her. “Thanks to you.”
“I’m sorry a million times. I’m sorry.”
“I’m joking,” I say grasping her hands and squeezing tightly. “In fact, I think that’s the best thing you’ve ever done in your life.”
“What creating that flyer?” she asked me surprised.
“Yeah, if you hadn’t created the flyer saying I was looking for a wife, then I never would have had to have made you live with me and answer the calls and?—”
“And we wouldn’t be together right now?” she says.
