"Stage four clinger alert on the way," she sighs, putting her phone face down on the island, grabbing a granola bar and moving to sit on the sofa next to me.
"They can't all be like that." I attempt to laugh it off, but I'm feeling embarrassed that I didn't think about this more last night. He probably just said all that in the heat of the moment.Everyone keeps telling me he’s not that kind of guy, and I'm just not listening properly.
"No, seriously. He gets so many girls chasing him after hooking up; it's his thing." She waves her hand towards the guy's apartment. "I love the guy, but it's insane how many girls he's taken home."
I'm just another girl he took home. I feel myself doubting everything and feeling stupid. "How was the date last night?" I ask, pulling my knees up and pulling my T-shirt over the top, trying to distract myself from the knot that's forming in my stomach and focus on her.
"It was good." She nods, chewing on her granola bar and not meeting my eye.
"Just good?" I raise an eyebrow at her. "You went home with him, Cam."
Cami isn't the hookup kind of girl, pretty obvious considering her opinion of Grant's antics.
"I do like him," she huffs out, turning on the sofa to bring her legs up before continuing. "It's just that there are no fireworks or sparks, and I thought taking the next step might get us there."
"Did it?"
"Maybe they will come," she shrugs, looking away from me.
"You're not the girl to wait for fireworks, Cam." I nudge her with my foot. "You're the girl who makes them."
She turns back to face me and smiles, and I can tell something is not right because this isn't the confident Cami Logan I know.
"Cami, what's up?" I ask her, leaning forward, but she gets up.
"Nothing, B, don't worry." She walks towards her bedroom. "I'm all good, I'm going to change, and then we can go thrifting."
I fall back against the sofa and cover my eyes with my arm; something's up with Cami, and I'm going to have to bail on Grant, and I'm not mad about it. I would rather not have "the talk", where he tells me it was a casual one-night stand.
I've never done this before, and I'm not sure what to do with the aftermath.
99 problems and Brooke and Grant are one
Gunnar C-I'm starting to get worried about Brooke and Grant.
Cami L-Me too, B’s been avoiding him. I think they argued after he came over the morning after he slept with someone at the pool party.
Adam P-Gunnar is only worried because Grant’s been sloppy in practice this week.
The Bear-He didn’t look sloppy when he made you do suicides after you called him dickwad for missing a pass.
Adam P-Yeah, well, how about my goal you didn’t save today? Huh?
The Bear-You shot at me while I was having a water break!
Cami L- If you two can’t behave, I will remove you.
Gunnar C- I think we need to step in and make them talk
Adam P- An intervention!
Gunnar C- I mean, it could be more casual than that.
Adam P-No, I got this; we are going to need a sign
.The Bear removed Adam P
Cami L-Thank you, Bear.
