Page 120 of Distorted Obsession

The tight set of my shoulders loosens, and I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding.

“Oh, thank fuck. It’s only Candace,” Coop exclaims, showing zero concern or sympathy for the very naked and brutally killed girl on the bed. There’s no judgment from me, though. And by the look on Liam’s and Mason’s faces, they don’t feel anything either.

Their lack of reaction raises my suspicion, reminding me that we still don’t know everything about these two men we’ve teamed up with in order to get our revenge.

Assessing the room, I mentally kick myself for not having at least one camera during the party. Grumbling, I note potentialclues. However, we need to kick these assholes out of here before we do anything else. There are too many probing eyes.

When I look, I notice the small crowd around the door, blocking the entrance. “Everybody get the fuck out,” I snarl. “And if I hear one peep about this, I’ll end your entire bloodline for five lifetimes.”

They scamper away, muttering their disbelief.

Rushing past them, I block their way. “I said not another fucking word.” This time, I stand with my arms crossed, glaring them down. “That means not a fucking syllable should form and no tongue should roll, unless you looking for an assisted suicide.”

With my final warning, they stumble down the hallway before flying down the stairs. One person trips, taking at least three people down with them. “Fucking imbeciles,” Liam snorts, pulling my attention to where he’s perched against the wall.

I nod my agreement, striding back into the room.

“This was an interesting way to go,” Cooper remarks as I stand at the foot of the bed.

Liam enters, stopping beside me. “I wonder who she pissed off,” he states.

If we weren’t each other’s alibi, I’d have us at the top of the list.

“After the stunt she pulled, I was going to kill the bitch myself,” I confess, peering down at Candace’s body. Her throat is sliced clear to the hyoid, her nipples are missing, and “she’s mine” is carved across her stomach.

“You have to admit they get points for creativity. But they lose points because they could’ve done so much more,” Cooper quips.

Shaking my head, I turn slowly, observing the surroundings. “Whoever did this was efficient as fuck. The blood is only in thisarea, with minimal blood splatter on the walls.” I point to the floor. “And there’s no bloody footprints.”

“Who the fuck is ‘she’?” Mason mutters.

This puzzles me as well. Candace is annoying by default and is easily one of the biggest bullies on campus. Outside of her goon squad no one can really stand the bitch. The list of people who could want her dead for messing with someone they like is probably slim. But not slim enough, apparently.

Rubbing the bridge of my nose, I take one more look around before I utter, “As long as it’s not Eva, I can’t find a reason to care.” Then, I exit the room. It’s time to contact the Heirs. Hopefully, they haven’t made it too far.

“Cansomeone tell me what the saying ‘we’re all African under our skin’ means, and how the African Diaspora shifted from a global perspective to one more localized to North and South America and the Caribbean?” Professor Morris requests, standing behind the podium.

Someone begins to speak in my History of the African Diaspora class—mentions of the transatlantic slave trade bounce around the room as students rattle off their answers, but I’m too distracted to even pretend to join in on the discussion.

My mind is on the party. I’ve been replaying that night over and over like a skipping record. Goosebumps prickle my skin, traveling up my arm and down my spine.

Did I really have a foursome in the middle of a party?

It feels like a dream sequence of my greatest fantasy. The way Cooper was thrusting inside of Liam was more than enough to send my libido through the roof.

A thought niggles at the back of my mind, riding me until I’m forced to grapple with it. “When did all of them meet?” I mumble.

I’ve never seen them together before the party.

How did they get close enough to want to do a group scene?

Why was Mason trying to slip me a pill?

Did any of my friends see?
