I’d made damn fucking sure those little college pricks never tried that again. That violent, angry beast in my chest still craved blood. I closed my eyes, pictured his broken body being dragged behind my bike, bouncing across the desert like a rag doll.

Nope. That fucker would never put his hands on anyone. He hadn’t even had any left by the time it was over.

Kenna was going to cause me all sorts of trouble. I liked it.

“I can’t do this.”

“Why not?” She was breathing heavily, her chest heaving.

I laughed without humor. “I’ve been told to stay away from you. And every time I see you, all I can think of is sinking inside you and forgetting about everything else. Even when you don’t try, you seduce me. Sexy little brat.”

I ducked out the door before she could stop me.

I yanked off the burly man’s cut and handed it to Ghost to hang inside, as other guys wrestled the two idiots into their rides home. Too much coke chased with too much booze had themrolling around in the dirt with each other after arguing over a football game.

Fucking idiots.

But breaking it up had been fun. Tossing bodies around and wrestling a man to the ground got my adrenaline pumping in a way I’d needed to fend off the desire from what I’d almost done to Kenna. I didn’t like fighting with rules, so couldn’t get into fighting the way Jester and his brother did. But this felt good.

I glanced to Merc, who was dusting off his hands. One of them had tossed him around like a rag doll but he’d held tight. “Fucking bull in a China shop until you clocked him.”

Examining my busted knuckle, I chuckled. “This is why you were banging on the door so much?”

“Fuck yeah. I wasn’t breaking this shit up on my own.”

“Couldn’t have.” Jester lit a blunt standing by the door.

“Some help you were.” Merc shot a side glare at him and sneered, but was clearly joking.

“More important shit happening. I was waiting to see who came out of that bathroom behind this fucker.” Jester lifted his brow, grinning big as shit.

I flicked my head around fast, but he never said who. Just smiled bigger.

“I told you, brother, I’ll let you watch.”

“Shut the fuck up.” I walked past and halfheartedly punched him in the gut as I went. If Kenna wanted him, I’d damn sure fucking watch.

The kinky fucker laughed with dark glee.

“You were in there a long time,” Merc said under his breath, following me in. “And there were noises, brother. I don’t think you moan in that octave.”

But he danced away from my backhand. I could handle the grief they gave me because it was directed at me, not her.

When I saw Kenna she was with Riley and Dylan, truly smiling for the first time in a long time. Regardless of what we’d done in that bathroom, of how close I’d come to fucking her stupid, I was glad she was here.

Her, Cam, his ole lady…felt like the family was whole again.

I turned and went back outside, cracking my neck from side to side and staring off into what was left of the bonfire. The desire to pick Kenna up, toss her over my shoulder, and carry her to my bike was too strong.

I needed space. The fading flicker of flame and glowing embers grounded me, reminded me of how quickly I could burn everything I’d built to ashes. I’d barely got me and Eli away from Jessica in one piece.

Everything I did here, was for him. Always him.

Kenna

By the time the guys rolled in from breaking up the fight outside, I was halfway drunk with my best friends. In this case, alcohol was the only way I could pretend like I didn’t get fingered in the bathroom like a horny teenager.
