Page 7 of Knot Letting Go

Quill glared at Konstantin for a few seconds before he was smiling again. “Of course. I have nothing but respect for her.” He winked at me and my face heated. “Lilli is going to be very excited that you’re here. She was over the moon spending time with you, Calli, and the girls.”

Even though I could still feel the blush in my cheeks, I smiled. Having her get ready with us for the wedding was so much fun. Lillianna had been so fascinated by us doing our hair, makeup, and donning our fancy dresses, doing a little fashion show as we did. Callista had mentioned her mother had passed away when she was little, and it was clear Lillianna missed being around all that feminine energy.

“Yes, well, if you don’t mind—” Konstantin’s phone buzzed on his desk, and he twisted to look at the screen. His lips pressed together as he frowned and his whole mood darkened. “I have to take this call. Miss Smyth, if you would like to take the contract and go over it, and we can talk again over lunch. Quill, show her to the nanny’s suite and let her get settled in.”

“Gladly.” Quill went to the door and opened it with a sweep of his arm. “My lady.”

My smile widened a little. His flirty and laid back energy was the opposite of Konstantin’s. I stood and repressed the urge to curtsy to my new boss. I set down my glass and picked up the contract and schedule. “Thank you again for this opportunity.”

Konstantin nodded as he pressed his phone to his ear and greeted the caller in Italian. He remained standing, watching me intently as I exited his office. Even when the door closed, it was as if I could still feel his eyes on me.

“Damn, I’m glad to get out of there. Who works on a Sunday morning?” Quill shook his head with a light laugh andheld out his arm to me. “Me, I’m having the best morning ever. How about I take you on a little tour as I bring you to your suite?”

My breath caught in my throat. If he was a Beta, I wouldn’t think twice about accepting his arm, but he was an Alpha, gorgeous and so very male. He was almost flashing me how male he was. On top of that, his scent called to me, luring me in with lusty thoughts in my head.

Dammit. I couldn’t. I was already breaking Omega laws being alone with an Alpha—twice now by being in Konstantin’s office—and there was no way I was going to risk my position here.

Quill raised his brows and something in me started to crumble.

CHAPTER FOUR - Quill

It had been an incredible day of celebration yesterday, but this morning’s surprise gift promised to keep on giving. If Aubrielle got over her Omega timidity. Yet it was hot in an ‘I want to take this proper girl and make her do highly improper things’ way. Like right now I wanted to take her behind the potted plants at the end of the hall and fuck her hard.

Kon had given me a warning though. Fuck, ever since we’d been back after my bastard of a father died, Kon had been laying down the rules. No messing with the household staff, no sleeping with business associates, and no bringing any of my lovers near Lillianna. It was no wonder he never had any fun. Actually, I had very little fun since we’d returned last year. It sucked.

But now this sexy vixen was my niece’s new nanny. An Omega who smelled of sweet pear and delicate ambrette mingled with roses. Her musk was everything heavenly and feminine, and fuck, I wanted to taste her.

Except Aubrielle was afraid to even touch me.

That was going to change. I would make sure of it.

I retracted my proffered arm and crooked a finger as I started down the hall. “Follow me, darling. I’m sure you’ve been wandering around the manor all weekend. Did Callista give you a tour?”

The tension in her shoulders eased, but she still clutched the papers to her. “A quick one. I was here a few times when we were teenagers as well.”

“That’s right. I remember Calli telling me about her sleepover weekends. Too bad I wasn’t here to meet you then, but my father wanted both Kon and I to be schooled at his alma mater in Tuscany.” A school which I’d hated. I had severalsuspensions, but they never expelled me because of who my father was, and I’d tried my damnedest to do so. “So you know where the kitchen and most things are in the house then.”

“Yes. Does the rest of the staff live at the manor too?” Aubrielle followed a few feet behind me with the papers clasped before her. She made for a saintly figure in her long floral skirt and white blouse. When a beam of sunlight crossed over her, I could almost see her bra through the thin material. Delectable.

“We used to have live-in staff, but not now. The cook and the housekeepers live in town. The butler who lived here since I was a kid now lives in Seattle taking care of my mom. I always thought he was a stuffy old fogey, but he proved to be a decent fellow.” More than a decent guy, really. He’d saved all the women in the manor when my father went off the edge and nearly killed my sister. I still couldn’t believe I shared that asshole’s blood.

We entered the kitchen and the white haired cook looked up from where she was eating a piece of toast and composing the week’s menu. I grinned and went over to kiss her cheek. “Good morning, Enid. How’s the best cook in the world?”

Enid patted my cheek. “You silly boy. I’m fine. Still smiling after Callista’s wedding yesterday. It was beautiful.” She leaned her head to the side and dipped her head to Aubrielle. “Good morning, miss. Would you like some breakfast before you’re on your way?”

“Aubrielle isn’t going anywhere!” I crowed and gestured grandly to the blushing Omega. “Enid, meet Aubrielle. She’s Lilli’s new nanny as of this morning.”

“Pleased to meet you.” Aubrielle smiled that sweet, shy smile of hers.

Enid rose and went over to hug her. “So wonderful to have you join us, dearie. Lillianna will be thrilled to have you here. Her previous nanny, Paula, well, she was more suited tobeing a sergeant in the army than taking care of a sensitive child.”

“Oh, you can say it, Enid. Paula was a bitch.” I chuckled, and fuck, I was glad she was gone. Paula had tried to climb into my bed, but I laid down the law fast. I knew a gold digger when I met one, and she was willing to do anything for a rich husband. No thanks. “But Aubrielle here, she’s not only beautiful, she’s a sweetheart.”

More blushing. I couldn’t get enough of it.

“Don’t you mind Quill, dearie. He’s a notorious flatterer. Even as a boy, he would come into the kitchen and sweet talk me into giving him treats.” Enid patted Aubrielle’s back like a doting grandma. “When you have the time, please write up a list of your favorite dishes and any allergies you have and leave it with me here. We’ll have to have a welcome dinner some time this week.”

“Oh, you don’t need to make a fuss.” Aubrielle looked like she wanted to hide behind the papers she was carrying. Someone needed to break that Omega out of her shell, and fuck, I wanted it to be me. I was caring less and less for Kon’s rules every minute I spent in her company.
