Page 56 of Knot Letting Go

“Yeah, I know. That’s why you should let me—”

“No. It needs to be me.”

“Well how about neither of us?” Quill raised his brows. “How about we call Talis, give him the info, and let them take care of it all? That way we can both be there for the girls. Lilli gets to keep her dad and uncle, and Aubrielle gets two hot hunks to be her mates.”

Fuck. The thought of not being there for Lillianna and Aubrielle tore at my heart. Yet letting Lorenzo live made me so furious that I couldn’t think. There were other ways than me pulling the trigger, like hiring a hitman. Even if I did kill him myself, I could say it was self defense.

All these dark thoughts, the lying and plotting murder. This was who I fought not to be. I promised myself I would never be like my father, but here I was.

Lillianna deserved a better father, and Aubrielle needed a good mate.

For them I’d do anything.

So I let it go.

“Alright. Call Talis and tell him to particularly look at Astoria Regional.”

Quill already had his phone in hand and tapped Talis’ name in his contact list. He put the call on speaker.

One ring and it picked up. “Wyndham here.”

Quill nodded as if our brother-in-law could see him. “Talis, we think maybe Lorenzo took the girls to Astoria Regional Airport. Have you check—”

“We just confirmed not a minute ago that Pacetti was there. The airport grounded all planes, and Pacetti left with orders for them to call as soon as they could fly. We have three teams already on their way.”

I was fucking right. The girls were still here. They’re still on the ground somewhere nearby.

I stepped on the accelerator.

“Where are you now?” Talis asked.

“We’re heading in that direction.” Quill gripped the door handle as I sped through the streets. “How close are your teams?”

“First team will arrive at the airport in twenty.”

“They won’t be at the airport.” Didn’t he say Lorenzo left? He wouldn’t stay with the girls in plain sight.

“We know, but we’ll set up an ambush and call them to say they can fly. They’ll come to the airport and we’ll nab them.”

Quill and I exchanged a look. That sounded messy. Too dangerous.

“Kon, Quill.” Talis’ tone hardened as if he knew what we were thinking. “We have experience with this. I’m personally leading the operation. Doing this in a place of our choosing will allow us to control the situation and get the girls out safely.”

“You’re the professionals, but we’re going to be there.” Quill nodded at me.

“I wouldn’t expect anything less. Just do as we say and stay safe. Lillianna and Aubrielle will need your comfort once we rescue them.”

“Gotcha.” Quill ended the call and shook his head. “I don’t like this. They could easily get shot. Hell, Lorenzo wouldn’t think twice about using them as human shields.”

I should trust the professionals and not do anything impulsive.

“Look up hotels closest to the airport. Black Sedans can’t be that common.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX - Aubrielle

I swallowed back another whimper as my heat pains ramped up once again. It was inevitable that they came back, but it couldn’t have been at a worse time. I couldn’t allow myself to wallow in my misery because I had to be strong for Lillianna.

She laid curled up on the bed next to me. I tenderly stroked her head as she slept. She usually didn’t take naps, but today was emotionally exhausting. If my heat wasn’t tormenting me and I wasn’t hyper alert for Lorenzo or any of his men, I would have conked out too.
