When he didn’t move exactly how she needed him to, Andi grabbed his hips more firmly and adjusted his body just a little. The next time he moved, she nearly exploded out of her skin with the intensity. Laith must have realized what she was doing, and he moved again, adjusting the angle of his thrusts.

That was all it took and Andi nearly screamed out his name. Jonas surely would have heard her if it weren’t for Laith kissing her at that moment so that her cries were a mere mumble. She felt his shaft thicken, then his body tensed and he moved faster. Several thrusts later and he moaned into her mouth while they held onto each other for dear life as the pleasure washed over them.

As they came down from that high, his lips softened, teasing hers until she responded. Even his hands softened, caressing her gently now instead of holding her tightly.

Andi stroked his hips, trailing her fingertips up his back, then into his silky hair as he peppered soft kisses all over her neck and shoulders. She was nearly in tears with the beauty of this moment, startled by how powerful their coming together could be.

When he lifted his head, looking down at her, he smiled. “You’re beautiful.”

Andi laughed, breaking the spell. “I’m a mess,” she argued, but made no move to pull out of his arms.

“Beautiful,” he repeated, kissing her lips softly, brushing his back and forth as if tempting her.

Andi closed her eyes, twining her arms around his neck as she relaxed into his embrace. This was too beautiful to be wrong, she thought. He’d given her so much pleasure and…!

“Laith,” she whispered, as reality suddenly set in. They were in his office. They were still intimately connected, and who even knew where her underwear had gone.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, still holding her close. He lowered his head and nibbled on her earlobe. When she shivered, he chuckled, low and husky, then did it again.

Andi pulled back. “Laith!” she snapped, pushing at his shoulders until he looked at her.

“What’s wrong?”

She pushed him more firmly away. When he came out of her, Andi slid off the desk and started trying to straighten her clothes.

Damn it, he hadn’t bothered to take off her blouse! Why that bothered her so much, she couldn’t really explain. But it did. And her breasts were her best feature! Of course, he wouldn’t know that because he was, apparently, just a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kind of guy!

That wasn’t fair and she knew it even as she thought it. Andi was the one who had slipped out early this morning. If she’d stayed, maybe they could have discussed it in the privacy of his hotel suite. But nooo! She’d had to run away!

Andi looked around, realizing she needed to get cleaned up. “I need to get to the bathroom,” she whispered, unable to meet his gaze now.

That’s when it hit her; the reason she needed a bathroom. It wasn’t because she wanted to fix her hair, although, that was most likely true as well. Nope, it was because she felt something drip down her thigh. Something wet. Something that wouldn’t be there if Laith had used protection!

Andi gasped, turning so her back was to him.

“What’s wrong?” Laith demanded as he tossed tissues into the trash.

Andi spun around, her mouth hanging open in horror. When he looked at her, her expression must have registered to him as well. His eyes dropped to her hips, then to the tissues that he’d just tossed into the trash.

He muttered something under his breath, but the words were in a language she didn’t understand. Andi understood their meaning though. So, she nodded, wrapping her arms around herself protectively.

Laith pulled her into his arms. “Andi, I’m so sorry!” he murmured. “I just…” he paused, kissing the top of her head. “I should have been more careful.”

Andi didn’t say anything. It had been so long since she’d been interested in a man, and in the past, she’d always discussed contraception well before engaging in sexual activities with her romantic partner.

She’d always had time to get onto birth control, because sex had never been this urgent, this demanding. Plus, she’d always required that her partner use protection as well. In her mind, there was no reason why she should be the only one responsible for guarding against an unwanted pregnancy.

So, why was she here, standing in the man’s office while she frantically tried to remember when her last period had started? She was too horrified to think straight. Plus, she kept those records on her phone, which she’d left back in the conference room with her laptop.

Andi’s arms tightened around his waist and she said the lie that would help him feel better. “I’m sure that it’s okay,” she whispered. “It was just once…” she paused, remembering last night. “Twice,” she corrected.

“We’ll be more careful in the future,” he vowed, then pulled away, still holding her close, but with enough room that he could look into her eyes. “You’ll tell me if anything comes of this…mistake?” he asked.

For some reason, the word “mistake” hurt more than she would have expected. No, she didn’t want to get pregnant. This was just a casual fling, she reminded herself. Still, the thought of a sweet, innocent baby being labeled a “mistake” wounded a part of her heart that she hadn’t realized existed until this moment.

“Andi?” he prompted, rubbing his hand over her back.

Immediately, Andi’s body responded just as strongly as it had before, but this time, she pulled back, staring up at him with wide eyes.
