‘Erm, well, truthfully, all the girls at shoots have really high brows, and mine are fine, but I’d like them higher. The problem is I do commercials, so I need my face to move. I know Botox totally freezes everything, though, so I couldn’t get that. And also, I hate my nose. It’s huge.’ She covered it with her hand and blushed. ‘But I know that’s like a hammer-and-chisel job, not a quick one for you guys.’

‘Aw, don’t be silly. Let’s have a look then,’ I said.

Rheanne lowered her hand, and I examined her face, gently pressing my palms against her skin and slowly working out angles.

‘OK, so firstly, your nose is the perfect size for your face. It isn’t out of proportion at all. I think you have the most stunning cheekbones and structure to your face already.’

Rheanne nodded gratefully.

‘But I do think defining your jaw a little would complement your appearance. Your face essentially gets smaller in the bottom half, which makes you think you have a big nose, but you honestly don’t. You just have a smaller jaw. I could insert a small cannula and define the lower half of your face. It’s all very non-invasive compared to a rhinoplasty! I also think raising your eyebrows slightly would give you the look you desire. I will use Botox, but without completely freezing your forehead, making sure you still retain movement at the sides.’

Rheanne sat back and smiled. ‘Wow. Really? OK. Thanks, Zara! I never thought about the jaw thing before. Thank you!’

‘Sure. Now you can swap with Ebony, if you like. Tom is fantastic too. Listen to his recommendation and make your decision at the end.’

Rheanne moved to Tom’s bay, briefly chatting to him and Ebony. I felt elevated after only one consultation. This way of aesthetics didn’t feel like the typical conveyor belt of patients telling me what they thought they wanted, like the bog-standard celeb face. Instead, I was listening and advising, using my own expertise, evaluating what would work for each individual face. My brain wasn’t running on autopilot anymore, and it felt more rewarding.

Ebony strutted over towards me and sat on the chair.

‘Hey,’ she said, her gaze still sliding over towards Tom.

‘It’s lovely to meet you properly, Ebony. OK, you probably had this with Tom so I’ll jump straight in. I’d love to know what your favourite feature is. And what would you most like to change about your facial appearance today?’

She sighed and ran her tiny Niknak’d fingers through her luscious brown locks. ‘I like my face. I like the shape and structure. But I feel I look so tired all the time. I haven’t had my lips done for maybe a year, so maybe my lips and like a facial or something.’

I couldn’t help but grin towards her, ‘OK, well, firstly, you are stunning. Like, I could probably cut my finger on that jawline. It’s insane.’

Ebony’s face hadn’t changed at all. She was clearly familiar with compliments.

‘I think Botox would be the only treatment I advise today. Your lips don’t need to be treated. They’re large and full with a striking Cupid’s bow. You do, however, have small lines on either side of your forehead that I could even out and lift, and this would reduce the tired look. But honestly, you are stunning the way you are.’

Ebony twiddled her huge initialled earrings around and grinned. ‘Is that me then?’ she asked.

‘Yes!’ I replied, and called Lisa over to my station.

Lisa was the oldest-looking of the girls. I could tell she’d had work done in the past, but she was every bit as attractive, and her personality shone brilliantly as soon as she relaxed.

‘Hi, Lisa, I’m Zara. Again, thanks for coming in today at such short notice.’

Lisa beamed. ‘No, honestly, thanks for asking me! I love a wee freebie!’

I giggled, instantly clicking with her bubbly energy.

‘OK, so what do you love about your face, and is there anything you really would like to change?’

Lisa burst out laughing. ‘Eh … OK, I love feck all. Sorry!’ she laughed. ‘Just peel it off and make me look like one of them two, eh!’ She giggled. ‘No, eh. I suppose my face is feeling tired. I have a wee girl, and no matter how much Botox I get, I still feel like my face looks blah. Maybe I’m at that age, though, eh?’ She rolled her eyes jokingly.

‘Right, firstly, you are every bit as stunning as they two girls! Secondly, your features are incredible – the bright blue eyes, your complexion, just remarkable. What I think you might like is some cheek filler. That will return some shape and youthful plumpness to your face. Filler also massively decreases the wee signs of ageing. When we get older, we naturally lose shape here and here.’ I ran my fingers down her cheeks. ‘You don’t need much, but a little bit of filler at either side, and you’ll look twenty-one again!’

Lisa looked hopeful. ‘You know, I’ve never considered cheeks before!’

‘Honestly, two mils of Juju product will make a huge difference. I’ll let you get your consultation from Tom now, if you like.’

She stood up. ‘Thanks, babe,’ she said and headed over to his section where the other two girls were standing.

I approached the desk and stood with Ashley. We watched Tom turn his charm on, completely dying to win the competition.

‘What you thinking?’ Ashley asked.
