“WOAH!SOMEBODYNEEDTOEXPLAIN—NOW!”Trina screamed, her voice filled with panic as she tried to make sense of the chaos unraveling in front of her.
Sevyn barely had time to process before her phone vibrated again.
Hassan.Again.
Her hands clenched into fists as she hit decline for the second time, ignoring the way her stomach twisted. She had way bigger problems to deal with than whatever he wanted.
The moment Sevyn’s voice cracked, yelling through her tears, the entire room froze.
"Ma, Braxton cheated on me with Ariel."
Her confession hit the room like a grenade. The air shifted, thick and suffocating. Steven, who was still holding back a seething Dorian, turned his sharp gaze to Braxton. The sheer disappointment in his eyes was lethal enough to make a grown man crumble.
Sevyn’s breath came in shallow bursts, her chest rising and falling as she continued, her voice breaking under the weight of betrayal.
"That’s why I’ve been dodging your calls! I’ve been trying to pick up the fucking pieces of my heart that this nigga broke!"
Trina’s face twisted in disbelief as her wide eyes darted between her daughter and Braxton. And she didn’t even need Braxton to confirm it—the guilt swimming in his eyes said enough.
Steven’s voice cut through the tension, low, calm… deadly. "Braxton, getthefuckoutofmyhousebeforewhoeverthese ‘dangerous ass niggas’ you were talking about become the least of your worries."
The words slithered from his lips like a promise. One that Braxton should’ve taken seriously.
But instead of leaving, he had the audacity to try and stand hisground. To fight for something that was long past saving.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt—"
“SHUT THE FUCK UP, BRAXTON!” Dorian screamed, her body still thrashing against Steven’s grip.
Trina stepped in, trying to regain control of the situation, but it was too late. Sevyn couldn’t take another second in that room.
She turned on her heel, shoving past them, needing air, space— anything but this. She pushed through the back door, stepping into the cool night, her body trembling as everything she had been holding in for weeks crashed down on her all at once.
Inside, she could still hear the chaos unfolding. Braxton’s desperate, pathetic attempts to plead his case. Dorian’s venom-laced words, calling him everything but a child of God. Steven’s unwavering, lethal silence. Trina’s frantic voice, trying to diffuse a bomb that had already gone off.
Sevyn squeezed her eyes shut, pressing her hands against her temples, willing herself to drown out the noise. To breathe.
But just as she exhaled, her phone buzzed in her palm. She looked down.
Hassan.For the third time tonight.
She exhaled heavily before finally answering. "Hey, Hassan. I can't talk right now," she said, trying to mask the crack in her voice, but it was useless.
Silence stretched between them for a moment before his deep, controlled voice cut through the phone.
"Come outside, Sevyn."
Her body went still. "What?" she asked, disbelief lacing her tone as she instinctively walked toward the front of the house.
She caught sight of Braxton finally getting into his car and speeding off, but her attention drifted past him to the shiny blue Ferrari parked discreetly down the street. She didn’t need to guess who was inside. She already knew.
"Hassan, I'm not leaving with you. My parents and Dorian are inside, and too much shit just went down," she argued, trying to establish some control. But with Hassan, control was a myth.
"Either you go say goodbye to them and get in this car, or I chase after this nigga and kill him."
His voice was calm, unnervingly so, but Sevyn knew better. He was dead serious.
A shiver ran down her spine, not just from his words but from the realization that a part of her believed him. Knew he would do it.
