They didn’t let up until it was for certain these men weren’t getting up unassisted. Security came over and carried them out of the lounge, bruised and bloodied.

“The fuck happened?” Deuce asked.

Titan pushed his locs out of his face. “The drunk nigga grabbed her ass and started talking reckless, so I had to shut his ass up.” He turned to Mia. “You good?” he asked, cupping her face.

“No. You should have let me shoot him.”

Titan shook his head. “Trigger happy ass.”

“You good?” Quaid asked, turning and checking me over. “You didn’t get hit or anything, did you?”

I shook my head. “No. I’m fine.”

“Who knew this nigga had hands,” Maceo jested, slapping his back. “You was in there.”

Quaid chuckled as he picked his glasses up from the floor, only to find them broken.

“Shit,” he mumbled.

“Were those your only pair?” I asked.

He chuckled. “You know like I know, you gotta have a spare when you can’t see shit. I have a pair in the car.”

Smoke smirked. “Blind ass.”

“At least you don’t have to pay for these too,” Quaid tossed back.

They shared a laugh, and it felt good that they were getting along. I knew my brothers, and he was slowly earning their respect. Not that he needed it to have me, but still, it felt good.

“That shit blew my high,” Deuce said, shaking his head. “I’m about to go home to my wife.”

“Me too,” Maceo agreed. “I behaved, and I’m about to go get my reward.”

Collectively, we all decided to leave. Outside, my brothers dapped Quaid and Titan before heading to the car they all rode in.

“You wanna come back to my place?” Quaid asked.

“Sure.” I looked around for my sister and found her in an intense lip lock with Titan. There was no question of where she was going, but I asked anyway.

“Mia,” I said, breaking their kiss.

“Hmm?”

“I’m going to Quaid’s. I take it you’re going with Titan?”

“Uh, . . . yeah. We riding together or what?”

“She can ride with me,” Quaid said, draping an arm around my shoulder. “I’m sure you don’t wanna see that.”

He motioned to the two of them back to kissing heavily. We left them be as valet pulled up with Quaid’s car. He didn’t know it yet, but I was ready to be on that same type of time.

Now I wouldn’t sayI was planning to spend the night, but I did have a bag in my sister’s car with a change of clothes. Mia and Titan had pulled up right behind us at the apartment complex, so I retrieved it. Once we got upstairs and parted ways, Quaid and I had taken a shower and changed into something comfortable.

Currently, we were lying in his bed, watchingCriminal Minds. I discovered that he loved this show just as much as I did and didn’t mind starting it from the beginning. Since we’d been dating, we’d watched it whether we were in the same space or on a FaceTime call. Either way, it was a moment I enjoyed.

“You know who would have been an unpredictable couple?” I asked, snuggling closer to him.

“Who?”
