“Bruh, what do you want?” Quaid snapped.
“My fault for interrupting. I finally got Mia’s ass to talk to me, and once again, we’re beefing.”
“What else is new? Y’all are always beefing. I wasn’t aware the last beef was over.”
“It ain’t. Arguing with her stubborn ass made me lose my train of thought, and I locked myself out of my apartment. Can you let me in?”
Quaid sighed and looked back at me. “Can you give me a minute, love? He lives down the hall.”
“Go ahead. I’m just gonna wait for you on the balcony. I need some fresh air.”
Titan smirked. “I bet you do.”
“Shut up!” Quaid and I said.
“Getcho’ ass on somewhere, man.”
He grabbed his keys and shoved Titan out of his way, closing the door behind him. I stood from the couch with my phone and went out to the balcony. The only person I could think to call at a time like this was Shar. She answered on the first ring.
“If you ain’t calling to tell me you got some dick, I’m hanging up.”
“Sharina!”
She laughed loudly. “What’s up, sis?”
“I um, . . . I think I want to try something with him.”
She squealed. “Yes, bitch! Let him pop that cherry.”
“Oh my God.” I palmed my head. “Not yet, Shar. I mean, I felt it, . . . girl. It’s heavy.”
Again, she squealed. “I knew it! Don’t be nervous, girl.”
“I like him, but I don’t want to give myself to him that quick.”
She kissed her teeth. “So what do you wanna do? You want some head or something?”
“I don’t know how to ask for that.”
“Awww! My baby is so innocent. Listen, just put it on the table and see what he says. I guarantee that man is gonna eat you from the roota to the toota. Wait, did you shave?”
“I always shave.”
“Then you’re good, girl. If you don’t take anything else from me, take this. Speak up and ask for what you want.”
“I’ve never asked a man for head, Shar. That’s gonna feel so awkward?—”
“Why would it be awkward?” I heard behind me.
I jumped, turning to see Quaid standing there. I froze, eyes wide. Shar was in my ear talking, but I couldn’t hear shit she was saying. I swallowed hard as Quaid approached me and took the phone from my hand.
“She’s gonna have to call you back, Shar.”
Disconnecting the call, he slid an arm around my waist and pulled me to him.
“Tell me what you need, love,” he whispered against my ear. “All of me is at your disposal.”
My breath hitched in my throat. “I . . . um . . . I want?—”
