I swatted him lightly across the shoulder. “We’d better get ready or we’ll be late.”

We changed out of our jeans and tees before taking a quick shower. Pierce put on black leather pants with a jacket to match, open to the abs, the silver chain I’d given him clearly visible against his bronzed pecs. “You so look like a rock god,” I said, a fluttery feeling in my stomach. I turned for him to zip up the back of the slinky dress I’d extracted from my suitcase.

He pulled up the zipper, then spun me around. “And you look like a rock goddess.” He trailed his fingers through my hair. “So fucking beautiful.” He paused, seemingly on the point of adding to his statement, but shook his head instead.

Arms around each other, we headed down to the lounge and the private dining room Jake had reserved for us. The rest of the group had already arrived and were sitting at a massive round table. We joined them and servers brought us dish after dish of Singaporean food. Rice noodles in a spicy coconut curry soup, which I found out was called Laksa, followed by chili crab, barbequed stingray, and satay… which I also learned were skewered pieces of grilled chicken and beef served with peanut sauce and a cucumber relish. Everyone was hungry and we all dove in, but, when I took one spoonful of a dessert made with bean curd tofu sweetened with sugar syrup, I gave a shudder.

“Too sweet, huh?” Phoenix remarked from where she was sitting next to me.

“Yeah,” I reached for my glass of water and took a sip. “I got a real sugar rush.”

“Do you miss hanging out with Camila and the instrument technicians?” Phoenix’s smile was wistful. “I used to envy you and them the freedom to come and go as you pleased.”

“Don’t miss it at all, honey.” And I didn’t. I swiveled my gaze to Pierce. How could I lack for anything when I was with him? A stab of guilt tore through me. I should have been missing my dad more…but he hadn’t been the man I once knew, not for a long time. Stupid, I told myself. Not lacking for anything was a huge lie. I wanted to take Pierce’s cock deep inside me. Wanted it with every molecule of my being. Why the hell was my goddamn body letting me down like this? My breath caught on a sigh.

Axel and Phoenix had started discussing how they would explore the area near the hotel tomorrow. Apparently, there were impressive parks and gardens. “How about you guys? What are your plans?” Axel asked us.

“I’m gonna surprise my girl,” Pierce responded with a wink.

I couldn’t stop my mouth from falling open. Could he get any sweeter?

“Aw, you two are so cute,” Phoenix cooed. After dinner, we rode up to the fifty-seventh floor, to the boat-like structure bridging the three towers of the hotel. We strolled along paths through the amazing park that had been built up here, admiring the lush gardens. The hot tropical night caressed my bare arms and made the ends of my hair curl over my shoulders. I pulled it forward and plaited it in a loose braid.

“Axel is scared of heights,” Phoenix whispered to me as we headed toward the observation deck. “So we won’t go anywhere near the railings.”

The view was breathtaking. Even better than from our suite. Immediately below us, seeming to hang suspended in the air, perched an amazing infinity pool. Anyone swimming in the turquoise-blue water would imagine they’d be about to fall off the edge of the building. “Wanna take a dip in there tomorrow?” Pierce shot me a glance.

“Sure. It looks awesome.”

“Not me,” Axel’s face had turned pale. He grabbed Phoenix’s hand. “Let’s go to our room. I’m feeling dizzy.”

Pierce laced his fingers through mine, pressing his warm body against me. “Hayley and I have stuff to do.” He waggled his eyebrows. “We’ll go to our room as well.”

I groaned at his candor and swatted him in the chest.

Everyone else had already headed for the bar to drink the night away. The prospect of a day off tomorrow to nurse their hangovers must have been too enticing. I wondered what surprise Pierce had in store for me, and my tummy fluttered in anticipation. After undressing and removing my makeup, I stretched out on our bed, fully expecting Pierce to crawl between my legs as he usually did. But, no. Although he was already naked, he simply sat on the edge of the mattress and held me with his smoldering gaze.

Uh. Huh. Something’s up.

He took my hand. “Remember when I asked you back in LA if you’d ever gotten yourself off?”

Jesus. Where was this leading? “Yeah…”

His midnight-blue irises darkened. “Have you ever inserted your fingers?”

I felt the heat of my blush. “Why are you asking?” My tone sounded indignant to my ears.
