“Just leave it inside the doorway there.” I flashed Jeremy a grin. I could tell me and Jeremy were going to become good friends.

With a nod, Jeremy left the suitcase and walked out.

The sound of other familiar voices floated in from the main room. “Go and see your friends. I’ll be right out.” I swatted Milo’s ass. Obviously everyone was arriving.

Milo shot me a coy grin. “Save that for later.” He pushed his ass at me for a beat then strutted out of the room.

I scanned over the contents of Milo’s bedroom—our bedroom—and sighed. Better get moving.

An hour or so later,I’d unpacked my most important items in our bedroom and the bathroom, and was now sitting at one end of the sectional sofa next to Milo, with him tucked into my side. The whole band and the wives were here, Devin and Brandon out in the kitchen with Axel and Remy, while Caleb and Eric were sitting at the dinette finishing off the pizzas we’d ordered.

Gabe, Jeremy, Silas, and Cash all rested on the sofa and Silas and Milo played a fantasy video came on their console while the rest of us watched.

“Watch out for the creepers, Silas.” Milo skillfully moved his avatar into an old, abandoned building. Snow fell on the medieval-looking village inside the scene they played.

“I see him.” Silas ducked his avatar behind a shed and waited with a cross bow hugged to his chest.

My phone buzzed on the coffee table. “Hold on.” I leaned forward and held it to my face. Malcolm scrolled across my screen. “What the hell?” Shit, had something happened to Mom? Why else would he be calling. “Hey, I need to take this call. Could be bad.” I tensed my mouth.

Milo glanced at my phone. “Pause it, Silas.”

“I can’t. Just stay where you are for now.” Silas set his controller in his lap and picked up a beer that was wedged between his thighs, then sipped it. He held up his hand. “Hey, guys, be quiet.”

All the chattering in the house stopped.

I answered the call. “Hello? Malcolm? Is Mom all right?” With my heart thumping in my ears, I scanned the room. Everyone was focused on me.

“Yes, your mother is great. I’m calling about Milo. Is he there with you?” Malcolm asked.

“He is.” My gaze cut to Milo. “What’s this about?” My pulse slowed to normal.

“Can you put the call on speaker? I need to talk to him.” He exhaled. “And you.”

Shit, what the fuck happened? “Okay.” I breathed in deeply and muted the call. “Milo, it’s Malcolm. He says he needs to talk to us.

“Okay.” Milo shifted to face me, setting his controller in his lap.

I set the phone to speaker and held it between us. “Okay, you’re on speaker. But be aware we have a houseful of guys here as well.” Hopefully that wouldn’t be a problem.

“Oh, having a little party to celebrate Milo’s new job?” Malcolm chuckled.

“Yeah, sort of.” I pursed my lips. More like a party for Milo to spend as much time as possible with his friends before he moved.

“Well, Milo, about that, I have news,” Malcolm said. “Good news, I think.”

“Yeah?” Milo’s gaze cut to mine. “What’s up?”

“So, after Sheila’s therapy session with Ryder, she came to me and told me that the two of you were going to have to separate for you to take the job at AllAction. She said Ryder was pretty upset about it,” Malcolm said.

“Yeah, it’s not the best situation, but we’re dealing with it.” Milo looked into the phone, his brows furrowing.

“What if I told you they’re willing to let you work remotely after you get your training in at headquarters?” Malcolm asked. “Would you like that? Do you want to stay in Arizona?”

“Wh-what?” With wide eyes, Milo’s lips quirked into a grin. “You can’t be serious.” He held his hands over his mouth.

“I am very serious. Is that what you want?” Malcolm asked.
