I lifted my head and gazed into the brown eyes I’d been looking into and loving since fourth grade. They were even more amazing now. “We can do this, Ryder.” To hell with all my reservations.

“We need to take things slow, right?” He sucked his lower lip between his teeth. “I mean, that outfit you had on Friday night, fuck, I can’t get it out of my mind, but?—”

“But what?” I let my gaze roam over his muscled body and rest on his groin. I’d made him hard on Friday night. I hadn’t been seeing things and it hadn’t been random. Heat sparked in my belly.

“Do you um…the lace, do you wear it very often?” His pupils flared and he squirmed, then adjusted himself.

“Why, does that turn you on?” I gave him a sly smile and brushed my fingers down his chest, over a nipple.

His nipple hardened under my touch, and he took a ragged breath. “Yeah, I think it does.”

“I wear it all the time, actually.” Locking my gaze to his, I unbuttoned my jeans and turned down the waistband, exposing the pink lace of my underwear, my cock waking.

Raking his teeth over his lower lip, his gaze fell. “I-I didn’t know that. I didn’t know guys could…would…” He reached his hand toward the top of my jeans and stopped. “Can I?”

“Yeah, sure.” I shrugged a shoulder and my dick lengthened toward my hip bone. No way he wasn’t seeing that.

He touched the lace of my briefs and shut his eyes, then tongued his lower lip, moving his fingers dangerously close to the side of my now hard cock. “Milo, this is really turning me on.”

“Yeah, me, too.” My breath quickened and I focused on his mouth, so close to mine. It would be so easy to ravage him right now, to kiss him senseless. But fucking Silas might be in the damn hallway. The perv. Brushing my lips against the shell of Ryder’s ear, I said, “Why don’t we go into my bedroom?”

He shuddered against me. “If we do that, I’m not sure I’ll be able to take it slow.”

I inhaled deeply. What should I do? He was right. Reality was, I wanted to pound his ass into my mattress. If only he knew the things I wanted to do to him. A corner of my mouth tugged up. “Let’s go on a date, then we’ll go to into my bedroom when we get back.” Then at least I was technically dating my best friend and not just hooking up with him.

“Yeah?” He skimmed his hand up over my shirt and cupped my cheek, his gaze meeting mine. “I think that’s a good idea. I think we have more to talk about before we uh, you know.” He pressed his lips to mine for a long, deep kiss, then broke it. “Where do you want to go?” He kept his hand on my cheek and his gaze affixed to mine.

“Um, ah…” Shit, my brain was jelly. Where had the guys all taken their dates? “Tempe Marketplace? How about someplace in there?”

“Yeah, let’s go to the Thirsty Lion. I heard that was a good spot from one of the guys at the academy.” He sat back into the couch and combed his fingers through his long bangs.

“You mean a good spot for a date?” I buttoned my jeans and stood up. “Ryder Scott, were you asking people about places you could take me if I said yes to you tonight?” I gave him my most charming smile.

“Maybe?” He rose up from the couch. “Okay, yes.” He snatched my hand and kissed the back of it. “Damn, this feels good, like we were always meant to be like this. Is it supposed to feel this good?”

I turned into him, then stepped away, swooning inside. “I don’t know, but I can tell you it’s never felt this good for me before.”

Silas walked out of the hallway. “Oh, thank God.” With his signature smirk, he strode by us and into the kitchen, then opened the refrigerator door. “I was thirsty as fuck but didn’t want to interrupt you two checking out Milo’s lace.”

“Silas.” I stomped my foot and threw a glare at him. “I’m…I’m telling Cash on you.” And maybe hiding his favorite guitar pedal for a week when we get back.

Grabbing a water bottle out of the refrigerator, he waved his hand and said, “Go ahead. He’s going to ask me what happened as soon as he gets home anyways.” He sipped some water, then held up his hand. “I didn’t see anything, I swear.”

“Fine. We’re going on a dinner date to The Thirsty Lion. You can tell Cash that, too.” I pulled Ryder toward the front door.

“He’ll be thrilled, I’m sure.” Silas snickered.

“See you, Silas.” Ryder waved behind him. “And thanks, man.” He flashed a grin at Silas.

“Anytime.” Silas waved back.

RYDER

Iparked my truck and climbed out. Holy shit, I’d done it and asked Milo to date me. A smile curled my lips. And he said yes. It was so cool of Jeremy and Gabe to talk to me and help me through my anxiety about this after I’d contacted them on the Instagram band account. Milo had some awesome friends.

As I rounded the corner of my truck, my gaze landed on Milo and a full-on smile spread over my lips. He made me giddy, for fuck sakes. “Hi.”
