A knock on my door draws me out of mythoughts, and I pause the movie playing in the background. Making my way to the door, I hope like fuck it’s not Tammy or Rach. It’s the only thing those two have been known to do. Opening the door, I tense slightly cause it’s not one of the pocket pussies, it was Reaper.
“What’s up, Prez?” I ask, stepping back in the room to pull a shirt on.
“Want to talk to you about something,” he says, stepping inside, closing the door.
“Figured that.” With a shirt on, I turn and face him. “So, what’s up?”
“Ember,” he announces. “She’s in the room next to yours.”
“Saw that earlier.” I nod, not giving away anything about my thoughts on that. Or my intentions.
“You’re going to be the one in charge of her protection.”
I jerk back, caught completely off guard by his statement. “Excuse me? Did you just say what I think you said?” There’s no fucking way he’s putting me in charge of his niece’s protection.
“You’re gonna be in charge of Ember’s protection. Take her to work, bring her back. She’s on lockdown, but she can’t miss work with her just starting at the dispatch center. She loves that job, and I won’t takethat from her. To make it work, she needs a guard on her at all times,” he explains.
“And you want me to do it?” I ask skeptically.
“Yep,” he confirms.
“Not to sound like an asshole, but gotta ask, why me?”
“Because I didn’t miss your reaction to her coming home. Also, didn’t miss your expression at hearing what she had to say today.” Reaper shrugs, eyes watching me far too closely as he continues. “Ember isn’t the same girl she used to be. What I tell you stays strictly between the two of us.”
“What’s that?” I doubt I’ll like any of what he’s gonna say to me.
“Ember can tell the rest of it if and when she decides to share, but she was attacked. It’s the main reason she left school and went to Montana with Dex. What happened to her is her story to share, and it’ll be her who tells the rest. You need to know this because you’ve seen the scars, it was ugly, and she’s not overcome it yet, as she claims she has.”
I take in Reaper’s words, reading between the lines and not liking any of it. Whatever it was she went through wasn’t just a simple attack. It was one that caused her to lose the wildness inside her.
However, I don’t think she lost that part of her,but I do believe it’s hidden deep inside, waiting for the right time to show itself again.
“You two have history, I know it, don’t think I don’t. But also know what she was like after the split, and I gotta admit, that’s when it all started.”
“What started?” Now he’s got me confused.
“That she started losing that part of herself. You did that to her, now you’re gonna do what it takes to get it back. You’re gonna fix what you broke years ago,” Reaper says. He turns and walks out of the room without another word or allowing me to say anything myself.
Not that I could. Shock overtook me, freezing me to where I stand. He thinks . . .
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
I can’t deal with this shit now.
To fix anything, I know I’m gonna have to start small. How that’s gonna happen, I’ve no damn clue. I gotta take what I know about her and what Reaper shared, then go from there.
Moving back to my bed, I drop onto it, visions from years ago filter through my mind. One in particular always gets to me.
“Em, baby,” I groan, feeling her riding me. The tight grip of her pussy clenching me.
“It feels so good, Jase, so good.” Her moans go straight to my cock filling her.
We’d been out at a party and left to be alone after spotting one of the prospects of the club. Ember hated it when her uncles sent someone to watch after her. I got her, but I also got her uncles.
I hadn’t intended for things to go this far, granted, I won’t be complaining either. Having her straddling me like this, fuck I’ll never forget it.
“Jase,” Ember moans, her body rocking, grinding against me.
