Tank waved, then took Dalton’s arm. “Pie.”
“Indeed. Apple.” Dalton leaned a little.
“Mmm. I do like pie. And ice cream. Or whipped cream.”
“Don’t get all sexy, you two.” Dustin joined them, grinning wide.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Dalton almost managed a straight face.
“Uh-huh. I want pie. Maybe an episode or two ofFace Off. No getting smoochy.”
“Don’t make me kick your ass, Dustin,” Tank murmured.
“Hell, that assumes you can tell us apart, man,” Bubba shot back.
“Always.” Tank shrugged. “I can always tell y’all apart.”
Dalton heated, from balls to bones, just beaming. He believed it too. Tank had never once confused them, even as teenagers.
In a world where folks assumed they were interchangeable, that was huge. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, sending up a prayer that Dustin found that.
“Come on, y’all. Pie. TV. If you’re going to be part of the family, this is how it works.”
Tank took his hand once they were near the trailer, humming a little tuneless song. He thought maybe Tank liked that idea. A lot.
He thought maybe he did too.
Chapter Nineteen
TANK JOGGEDaround the arena. Sunday was always the important day. Short-go. Prize money. He had to be on his game. He needed a lot more warm-up these days.
Tony and Greg jogged alongside, joshing and laughing, and then Robin joined them, managing a few damn impressive handsprings.
“Nice!” Greg hooted. “For an old guy.”
“I know, right? I’m on a roll.”
“You are.” Tank slapped Robin on the back on the way by. Lord knew he couldn’t do that. No chance in hell. He’d break his everything.
“Hey, I saw Buick Davis was here,” Robin said.
The temptation to go “well, duh” was huge, because Robin had watched Buick ride yesterday, but this was just a lead-in to gossip, and they all knew it.
“Yep.”
“He just hanging around?” Robin waggled his brows.
“He wants to spend the break riding. I think he’s… curious.”
“Huh.” The guys all shared glances.
“Just ask what you want to ask,” Tank said.
“Are you with Dalton or are you with Buick?” It was Greg who managed to ask.
“Dalton. Buick is just here to see. I reckon he heard.” There. That was settled.
“Good deal.” Robin grinned. “Welcome home. You even brought the famous guys with you.”
