“Where’s Amber?” I asked, ignoring his question. I didn’t give ashit about me. I needed to make sure my girl and our unborn babies were fine.
“I can’t find her but there’s…” Cyrus’s jaw clenched. “There arebodies everywhere, Sammy. Some of our crew…we need to start getting people outof here.”
“Jaron.” I grabbed his leather cut. “Tell me he’s okay.”
“I’m fine.”
My head whipped around, finding Jaron coming toward us.
He held a hand out. “Can’t get rid of me that easily.”
I slid my hand in his, letting him help me to my feet. “We needto find Amber,” I told them.
“Did you call anyone?” Cyrus asked, pulling his phone out of hisinner pocket. “Fuck, my phone is smashed. I must have landed on it when theexplosions hit.”
“Who the fuck blew up my club?” came Candace’s high-pitchedvoice.
“This is a mess.” Jaron checked his phone. “Mine’s fine. Icalled 911. Everyone is on their way. We’ll get those who survived out of hereand then we’ll call our girls.”
While they were helping get people to safety and checking inwith their old ladies, I went to search for Amber when a scream sounded out ofnowhere.
Bile rose to my throat that something happened to her, themother of my unborn children. The one and only woman who had ever been able tocrack down my walls. To get under my skin and stay there. To make me fall inlove with her.
“Amber,” I yelled, charging for the hallway that led to thechange rooms along with the storage rooms. I didn’t know where she was, but Iremembered her saying something earlier about needing to get some napkins. Atthat point, I had every intention of going after her but Cyrus had stopped me.
“Trust me when I tell you this,” he told me. “Amber went off tobe alone. You need to give her some space.”
But I didn’t want to give her space. I wanted to overcrowd her damnlife and stay there. Whether she liked it or not.
“Sam, wait!” Cyrus ran after me.
I checked the change rooms, my heart sinking at the mayhembefore me.
“Oh, Penny.” Emma was holding her friend in her arms, rockingback and forth. Penny’s eyes were vacant, staring into nothing as life was nolonger in her. Tears streamed down Emma’s face, soft sobs wracking through hersmall body.
“Shit,” Cyrus muttered. “We need to get the girls out of here.”He barked orders at Cheesy and Locke and a few of the other guys to help getpeople to safety. “We also need to find out what the hell happened.”
“What do you think happened?” I growled. “It was Will. It had tohave been.”
“That’s a big fucking accusation, brother.”
I spun on my twin, grabbing the collar of his cut and slamminghim up against the wall. “I don’t give a shit. If something happened to Amberbecause of that bastard, my pretty face will be the last thing he ever sees.”
“You do remember what happened when Jaron took things into hisown hands right?” Cyrus reminded me.
I grunted, releasing him. “That fucker got off too easily if youasked me.” A friend of Piper’s had attacked her, and Jaron walked in on it. Hestopped it from going further but it had gone far enough and Jaron killed him.It was too easy. I would have made him suffer just like I was going to do toWill, even if he had nothing to do with these explosions.
“Guys, we lost one of our security…” Candace’s voice trailed offas she stopped in front of the doors leading to the change room. “Penny, ohGod.” She rushed to Emma, dropping to her knees in front of her and crying withthe girls who had not only worked for her but had become part of her familyjust the same.
My eyes scanned the room. Besides Penny, everyone seemed to bebreathing. Shawnee held a towel to her forehead, her eyes meeting mine.
“You good?” I asked her, knowing she and Amber were bestfriends.
She nodded. “Find Amber.”
Cheesy and Locke rushed into the room, helping the girls bringPenny out of the club.
A muffled cry suddenly came from the storage room across thehall followed by a curse. “Amber.” I went to the door, trying to open it, butit wouldn’t budge. “Amber,” I called out. “Are you in there?”
