“I promise not to surprise you anymore outside of the bedroom orI’ll at least make sure you have a heads-up.” He pinched my chin, tilting myhead back. “Okay?”

“Okay,” I breathed, licking my lips.

His eyes followed the movement, his hand moving from my chin towrap around my throat.

The firm contact sent a shiver down my spine.

The corner of his mouth twitched.

“Sam,” I whispered.

“Yeah, Red?” He inched closer but it wasn’t enough. His mouthwas a mere breath away from mine, the air crackling between us.

“God, why do you have this effect on me?” I breathed.

He smirked, lowering his mouth to mine ever so slightly. Thecontact was gentle, soft. While I enjoyed his rough kisses, this was what Ienjoyed more. When Sammy gave me parts of himself he never shared with anyoneelse. I didn’t take them for granted, knowing that there were parts of me Ionly ever gave him just the same.

Sam reached around me and cupped my ass, pulling me flushagainst him.

I sighed, licking along his full bottom lip.

A throat clearing from the entrance to the kitchen, made mejump. I actually thought Sammy would step away from me but instead, he placed asoft peck on my mouth and moved to my side. He hooked a finger in a belt loopon my jeans and pulled me closer.

“I was just seeing what your plans are for today,” Mom said, ahint of amusement flashing in her eyes.

“I need to stop by the club to see Tiny.” As soon as those wordsleft my lips, a sharp pain in the cheek of my ass forced a squeak from my lips.I coughed, elbowing Sammy in the stomach.

He grunted, rubbing the spot I hit. “I’m not having you go to abiker club by yourself.”

“He’s right.” Mom lifted her hand before I could argue. “And Iknow they aren’t strangers to you but one, you haven’t been home in a fewmonths and two, Will...” She looked between us both.

“He knows about Will,” I mumbled.

“He’s causing shit,” Mom told me, which was nothing new.

“I need to talk to Tiny and find out if he knows anything whileI wait for Shawnee to get back to me,” I explained.

“I get that, and I trust Tiny.” She closed the distance betweenus and placed her hands on my shoulders. “But I don’t trust the guys in hiscrew.”

A sour taste filled my throat. I didn’t trust them either. If itwasn’t for Tiny, they would have ripped me apart long ago. That had been one ofthe many reasons I left this damn city.

“I’ll be safe.”

Mom sighed, heading back out into the dining room. “You betterhope Tiny’s there.”

“He will be.” I looked up at Sammy. “You can come with me butyou’re not stopping me from going to see him.”

“Fine.” He leaned down to my ear. “I’ll deal with you later.” Hekissed my cheek, gave the spot beneath my ass cheek another pinch, and pushedaway from me to join my mom back in the dining room.

As soon as I was alone, it was like he sucked all of the air outof my lungs.

When Sammy sat at the table, his eyes caught mine. He noddedonce.

I shook myself and sent Tiny a text, letting him know that I wasin the area. I needed to get this done and over with because I knew that withSammy’s temper and possessive ways, this meeting was not going to go well.

For either of us.
