“You know it’s true.”

Maybe it was.

Cyrus never said anything more on the subject and turned on the music instead. “Choose whatever you want to listen to, pet.”

I put on something that spoke volumes to me. It hit somewhere deep in my soul, add to the fact that even though it wasn’t Cyrus’s type of music he usually listened to, he never said a word about it.

“Here’s To Starting Over” by Asking Alexandria pumped through the speakers. While it was milder than what I usually listened to, it was a favorite song and one I listened to regularly.

“And here I thought you only liked that black metal stuff,” Cyrus teased.

I laughed, shaking my head. I tapped his arm, getting his attention and leaned against the door.I like all music, but metal is my favorite. It speaks to me more than others do.

He nodded. “Do you understand everything they say too?”

I do.I leaned forward. The movement made his hand fall off my thigh and hit my center.I prefer when it’s hard though.

“Fuck,” he whispered.

I giggled.

“You’re a naughty girl, my little sex kitten.” He chuckled, shaking his head.

I blew him a kiss.

I enjoyed this side of us. The flirting. The touching. Now that we didn’t have to skirt around the subject of sex, it was like we were more comfortable with each other. Even though Cyrus never acted differently and would have been patient if I needed to wait longer to have sex with him, I was happy that I trusted him enough to give him that part of me.

“We’re almost there,” Cyrus told me, breaking the silence.

We were in the next city over, about an hour from the one I currently lived in. I never met a guy who was willing to drive a longer than normal distance just to show his girl a good time.

“We’re going to stop somewhere first and then we’ll grab some food.”

I could only nod as I watched the city pass us by. We were heading into what looked like the downtown of the urban area.

“You’ve always been a reader,” he pointed out.

I glanced at him then, nodding slightly. It keeps me out of trouble.

Cyrus winked, that single movement sending a flutter rushing through me.

We ended up pulling into a parking lot by a large building. I didn’t know where we were, never being in this city before. I wasn’t even from this part of the country but after everything that had happened, I picked everything up and started over. Literally.

“We’re here, pet.” Cyrus killed the engine and left the SUV, making his way around to my side. When he opened the door, he leaned in, placing a soft peck on my mouth. “Ready?”

I breathed him in, my tongue peeking out to lick along his bottom lip.

A low growl left him. “Careful, pet.”

I cupped his cheek, giving him a small smile.

He shook his head, kissed my nose, and helped me out of the vehicle. “When I went over to your apartment that first night and saw the stack of books on your shelves, I knew what kind of date I had to take you on.”

I frowned, staring up at him as he closed the door behind me.

He grabbed my hand, linked our fingers, and led me through the parking lot toward the larger brick building. “Greyson, Jaron’s dad, raised my brother and me. Along with his wife of course, and every other member who stayed at the clubhouse. Grey’s a reader. He’ll read anything. From romance books to horror, as long as it’s filled with words, he’ll read it.”

I soaked up the information Cyrus was telling me. I had only seen Greyson Mercer a handful of times whenever he showed up at the center, but I never pegged him for a guy who read romance books.
