“Yes, but I actually need to steal your wives if that’s okay.” I waited for the badgering of questions. I knew it would come once they saw me in the suit, but it didn’t matter. If it made Ainsley happy, I would be willing to wear anything to put a smile on her face.
“Really?” Eve looked back at Greyson. “I’ve seen this movie already anyway.”
“Same,” Zillah and Sara said at the same time.
“Besides, it’s not like it’s a horror movie,” Zillah added, rolling her eyes.
Her husband, Tray, chuckled.
“Rude,” Catch muttered.
He had been the only one out of all of us who liked romantic comedies. He was teased about it quite often, but it never stopped him from watching them over and over. The Princess Diarieswas his favorite and if he could, he would watch it on repeat. It was highly amusing.
“I won’t keep them long.” I stepped to the side. “Ladies.” I thrust my arm out, waiting for them to walk past me.
“Cyrus.”
I turned at Grey’s deep voice. “What’s up?”
“You talk to your brother?” he asked. “He’s been in a mood, fighting with the prospects just for shits and giggles. I love him like a son but he’s starting to really piss me off.”
“I’ll talk to him.” I left the basement and went up the stairs before Greyson could ask me any more questions about my twin. Truth was, I had no idea what was going on with Sammy.
“So, Cyrus, what’s going...” Sara’s words trailed off as she handed me a bottle of water. “You shaved.”
I lifted a hand to my jaw. “Not completely.” I didn’t like the clean-shaven look. Not for me anyway. But I definitely trimmed and cleaned up my beard.
“It looks good, Cyrus.” A hint of amusement flashed in her eyes. “What did you need us for?”
“Follow me.” I walked past them and up to the room I shared with Sammy. “I have a date tonight and I need your help in making sure I look okay.” I stopped when I realized that no one was following me.
“You have a date?” Eve whispered, looking between Sara and Zillah.
“Yeah.” I frowned. “Why do you three seem shocked?”
“We’re not shocked exactly.” Zillah laughed. “It’s just...”
“You’ve never asked us for help on one of your dates before,” Sara explained. “You’ve always done it yourself.”
“I’ve never been on a date before,” I told them.
“Then why did you get dressed up before?” Eve asked, confusion etched on her face.
“This is the first time I’ve worn a suit for a woman,” I explained, and I couldn’t wait to see Ainsley’s face.
“Okay, maybe you never wore an actual suit, but you still looked nice,” Eve pointed out.
Zillah laughed, shaking her head. “It’s because he was trying to impress the ladies, Eve.”
Eve smacked her forehead. “Oh God. Of course.”
I chuckled, shaking my head. “Most of the ladies I know, and I use that term loosely, aren’t worth the trouble. I haven’t worn a suit since...” My dad’s funeral, and my mom’s a year earlier, but I didn’t say that. “It doesn’t matter.” I went to my bedroom door. “I just need to make sure it looks okay.”
“You must really like her if you’re needing our help,” Sara said, coming toward me first. “You do, don’t you?”
“I do.” I pushed open the door to my room and grabbed the suit off the bed before the ladies could see it. “I’ll get changed and then I need your honest opinions.”
They looked between each other.
