Page 75 of Embers in Our Past

“Fuck, Abby, you are so tight for me,” I say, this time, holding both her breasts with my palms, pinching both nipples to get a reaction from her.

She grabs her bottom lip with her top teeth and begins to rock. Her movement must hit perfectly against her clit because she’s quickly telling me how perfect it feels.

I slide my hands down to grab onto her hips. I take over and start to pump up, hitting that spot inside her that drives her mad. Her tits bounce in front of my face, and with the size they are now, the fullness is calling for me to suck on them.

I do exactly that. I pull one of her nipples into my mouth and suck hard. The moan I get from her only urges me to take her a step further, and I bite down, and she yells, “Fuck, Clay, I’m going to come!”

Right then, her walls constrict around my cock, and without warning, I’m coming right along with her. I pump into her erratically, my cum going off into her pussy, and I swear my vision goes black for what feels like hours.

Once my vision returns, Abby is breathing heavily, her breasts in my face, and I lick and nip at them. She’s sensitive all over, so she laughs, pulling herself upright.

She sits back, still straddling me, her belly on full display, her tank pulled up, her breasts still spilling out. I can’t help but bring my hands to cup them and knead them. She moans and moves her hips again. Her hair looks like she’s been well fucked, yet her smile is easy across her face.

“Let’s go take a shower, baby,” I tell her.

She’s too tired to answer, so she just nods.

I hold her hand while she slowly gets up, and I pull her skirt down.

I know I’ve gotten through this conversation with Abby, but it doesn’t really settle that restlessness inside that I still have to deal with Rios because he betrayed a trust in our brotherhood.

“Hey, man, what was so urgent you had to see me?” Rios says as he opens the door to his apartment.

I remove my ball cap and run my hand through my hair. I left Abby chatting with Marissa and headed over shortly after we had dinner. I had unsettled business, and I couldn’t leave this up in the air with Rios. May as well speak to him and see what he has to say.

Marissa said exactly what Abby and Malloy had already told me. She was playing matchmaker. She had no idea Rios was planning on setting Abby up with a firefighter. That was never the intention. Although Malloy knew about it, he had explained it was a bad idea to Rios. The way he told it, Rios seemed unaffected, or per Malloy, Rios gave absolutely zero fucks he was hurting his fellow crew member.

Malloy thought it was better he went out with Abby, who he knew he’d likely not catch feelings for, than risk Rios setting her up with someone else where sparks might fly, and things go completely wrong. I’m even more in debt to the guy because he’s shown more compassion as a friend in a short amount of time than Rios, whom I’ve considered a friend for years.

“We need to talk,” I say, and I can see the tension overcome Rios immediately.

“Abby okay?” he asks as I walk into his apartment.

“Yeah, she’s great. She’s at home. Baby’s fine.” I brush it off. Luckily, I took my brother’s advice and didn’t screw things up. I will admit, I wanted to be an absolute dick and run away earlier. I could have, but she’s pregnant, and upsetting her would have definitely been a shit way of handling things. Talking to her was the right way to go about it. If we are going to move forward, that’s the only way we can work together if we are ever going to make our relationship survive.

“I know about you setting her up with Malloy.” I get straight to the point. I’m sick of beating around the bush.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” His eyes start to dart around the room.

“So that’s how you’re going to play this? Don’t be a tool, Rios,” I say. After all these years, he’s going to treat me like a fucking idiot?

“All this time, you made Malloy out to be the ass, and you’ve sat on your throne like we should feel sorry for you. But you’re the asshole.” I point at him. “I trusted you, day in and day out, with my life. All of us did. That’s what this job is about. That’s at the core of what we do. Come clean, Rios. Now’s your shot.”

He runs his hand over his head, that buzz cut grown out a bit. He finally blows out a breath, and I’m hoping he’ll just be the man I thought he was. “He was fucking around with my sister behind my back, man! He needed to prove to me I could trust him! So yeah, I made him go out with Abby!”

“So, you threw my ex-wife in my face with another man! And you fucking let me think she was out on a date with him? Even better, you didn’t even let me in on it? That’s fucked up, Rios. This isn’t high school! Man up, dude! Who fucking cares if he likes your sister? Malloy is a good person. You’d rather she date a random guy than a person with some integrity like him?” I yell back.

“You don’t get it! You don’t have a sister!” he throws back.

“Yeah, you’re right. You handled it with class. I have no idea what it’s like to feel betrayed by people I thought cared for me!” I throw my hands in the air. “Rios, you’re so fucking selfish, you can’t see straight. I came here giving you the benefit of the doubt. But fuck you!” I get close to him, my finger in his face. “You don’t deserve my respect. I’ll keep you safe when we’re out on a call. In that firehouse, I will do my job. But outside of it? Fuck. You.”

I’m breathing hard. I don’t need this shit. I’ve been through enough shit in my life to have to deal with people like this. Life is too short for this petty drama. My father lost his life surrounded by his brothers. If his life showed me one thing, it’s that each moment is precious. I will not waste my time on people who don’t care about the value of friendship and family.

I storm out of his place, slamming the door. He calls out for me, but if I ever decide to bring Rios back as a friend, I think there will always be a piece of our relationship that will be fractured.

Each mile home, I leave a piece of that anger behind. My focus is on this new chapter. I have a woman I love and a daughter who needs every piece of her father whole. That is my focus and my love. The two of them are my everything.
