“Enzo, you honestly did. Do you really think she would want anything to do with you after you kill her father?” Red asked.
“She’s turned her back on her family, she has nobody other than me and her dear grandmother, and as you know she doesn’t have much time left.”
“And you don’t think she’ll just up and leave? Disappear without a trace?” he questioned.
“That woman is my wife, she will remain with me, whether she hates me or not. I will not let her leave my side.” I grinned, thinking just how much fun it would be.
“So, you don’t want her to end up like her father then? Was all that at the wedding just talk?”
“Red, you know I’d never kill my wife, even if she begged me, I wouldn’t,” I smiled, knowing she’d never beg for anything, she showed me that last night.
I glanced at my watch, strumming my fingers on the desk.Seven-thirty.It might have still been early for her. I wasn’t sure what her routine looked like yet but I would soon enough.
“Do you think Ana would feel anything if you kill her father? You know the mentality they have. The mentality she was probably brought up with.” Red was as clued in as I was.
“I guess time will tell, won’t it?” I said, sipping my coffee. “But she’ll have to live with the memories of her father’s death, just like I did mine, and whether she loves him or not, it still won’t be an easy memory to live with.”
“Do you care about her? Even just a little bit?” he asked.
“You already know the answer to that, Red.”
“Alright.” He nodded. “But let me ask you something, why did you kill Joey then? If you don’t care about her?”
“Because that bastard made a comment about sharing her, and even if I don’t care about her, she’s still my wife and nobody will ever speak about her that way.” I placed my cup back on the desk, keeping my eyes firmly on my friend who wanted me to falter, and wanted me to let my guard down. But I wouldn’t.
“So, Joey ended the night with a bullet in his head, and Rox almost choked to death. Yeah, it sounds like you really can’t stand her,” he laughed.
“I swear to God, Red, if you—” I was interrupted by a knock on the door. “There she is.”
“And that’s my cue to leave.” He beamed, slapping his palms on his thighs as he stood to open the door. “Morning, Ana.”
It took me a minute to register that she may as well have been wearing nothing at all. Her pale pink satin pyjama shorts barely covered her ass as the matching top stopped just below her breasts. I cracked my neck to the side, my fists tightening where they rested on the desk as I allowed my eyes to roam over every inch of her.
What was she playing at?!
“Morning, Red.” She flashed him the sweetest smile, but all I got was a venomous one. “Lorenzo.” She winced as if it killed her inside to say my name.
“Morning, wife,” I managed through clenched teeth.
Red left us alone, closing the door behind him. She lowered herself into the same seat he was previously in, and despite how I left her last night, she looked very satisfied.
“Got something you want to say?” She relaxed her forearms on the arms of the chair as she seductively crossed her legs. I fought the urge to look.
“A couple of things, yes.” I leant forward, my eyes meeting hers.
“Well, go for it, I’m waiting.”
“You’re looking incredibly satisfied for someone who wasn’t allowed to come last night.” I strummed my finger on my lip, waiting to hear exactly what she had to say.
“Who said I wasn’t allowed to come? You?” She rolled her eyes with a cheeky giggle. “I don’t need you to make me come, Lorenzo. I can do it pretty damn good on my own.”
Excuse me?
“I should thank you, actually. That shower head had the perfect spray to get me off.” She looked so smug as she spoke, and I should have hated it, but all I wanted to do was bend her over my desk. “So, just know I don’t need you to make me come nor do I need to beg for release.” She rose from the chair, her shorts riding up even more than before. “Enjoy the rest of your morning.”
“And do you think I have nothing more to say? Trust me, Ana, I’m not done,” I informed her, pushing the chair back as it toppled to the floor.
“I didn’t think you were.” She paused near the door, knowing I’d be behind her in a split second.
